The Open Source team
The Open Source Team at OpenZeppelin drives the development and adoption of the company’s open-source tools and libraries, which are foundational to building secure and scalable onchain applications. The team focuses on creating innovative developer products, fostering partnerships with blockchain ecosystems, and enabling the growth of Web3 technology through public goods.
This team is cross-functional including product, sales and developer relations. Future plans include scaling the team to support new ecosystems, refining our open-source strategy, and driving adoption of products that align with institutional and ecosystem demands.
What you'll be doing
As OpenZeppelin’s Developer Relations, you will be the essential bridge between our development and product teams and the global developer community. Your role is all about empowering developers, nurturing relationships, enabling success, and ensuring that OpenZeppelin remains at the forefront of blockchain innovation and of education excellence. You are a very cross-functional team player collaborating with product, development, and marketing, to achieve your goals. You’ll divide your time between high-impact technical content creation and dynamic in-person activations:
- Technical Content Creation & Campaigns (60-70%)
- Create and curate high-quality technical content across multiple channels, including blogs, documentation, forums, and social media.
- Develop comprehensive technical articles, coding guides, threads, and video tutorials that empower developers to leverage our tools and libraries.
- Ideate, organize, and execute innovative developer campaigns such as monthly livestreams with industry experts, coding challenges (similar to Ethernaut or Speedrun Ethereum), weekly news digests, virtual hackathons, and more.
- Act as a trusted advisor to developers, offering support, troubleshooting assistance, and guidance on best practices to use our technologies.
- Community & Event Engagement (30-40%)
- Organize and manage OpenZeppelin’s presence at offline events, conferences, hackathons, and other community initiatives.
- Lead developer activations that showcase our technologies and build meaningful connections with the blockchain community.
- Represent OpenZeppelin at key industry events, with travel commitments of 2-5 times per year.
You have
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in Developer Relations or a similar role.
- 3+ years of experience working in the blockchain industry, with a solid technical background.
- A proven track record of producing engaging, high-quality technical content across various channels.
- Proficiency in building Solidity smart contracts is essential. While you won't be required to develop new smart contracts for production purposes, you should be able to produce smart contract examples, guides, and other technical content that clearly demonstrate best practices and our technology in action.
- Prior experience organizing and executing large-scale developer events, hackathons, or community meetups.
- Experience hosting or moderating live technical sessions, webinars, or virtual events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously and work autonomously in a remote environment.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized.
Location
- All positions at OpenZeppelin are 100% remote, however you should be located between UTC-5 and UTC+1 to be considered for this position.
Nice to have
- An established social presence and network within the developer and blockchain communities.
- Experience contributing to open source projects.
- Hands-on coding experience in other languages relevant to blockchain development (e.g., Rust, Typescript, etc).
- Ability to leverage analytics and feedback to iterate on content and event strategies for continuous improvement.
