As a result, we're seeking a talented, ambitious, and highly motivated Desktop Support Engineer to join our Smith Stone Walters team at UK location. The ideal candidate will provide technical assistance, troubleshoot IT-related issues, and ensure the smooth operation of IT systems and networks. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to IT support.

As our Desktop Support Engineer, you will be required to: 

  • Provide first-line technical support to users via phone, email, and remote access tools
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues. 
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT systems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Escalate complex issues to the appropriate IT teams and follow up to ensure resolution
  • Provide Tier 2 level support, Escalation point for Tier 1 level support
  • Maintain accurate records of issues and resolutions using a ticketing system.
  • Support user account management, including password resets and access permissions.
  • Assist with IT security measures, including antivirus updates and system patches
  • Provide guidance and training to end users on IT best practices

To apply for this role, you should possess the following skills, experience and qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/related field
  • 5-3 years IT helpdesk, network support, or computer repair. 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technology and licensing (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Office, MS SQL, etc.) and MAC OS.
  • Advanced knowledge and troubleshooting skills in Active Directory, Exchange, O365, Azure, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and remote desktop tools.
  • Basic networking/LAN experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

This role Hybrid, working within the United Kingdom and must commence in approximately one month.
