Design Team Leader

Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per annum, depending on experience

Location: Capital House, 85 King William Street, London EC4N 7BL

Contract: Permanent, full time

Shifts: 37.5 hours per week worked Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm with a 30-min unpaid lunch

Work model: Hybrid; some weekly remote working available

Purpose of the Role

The Design Team Leader is an experienced and proactive design professional responsible for managing the end-to-end design process and ensuring the delivery of high-quality creative output. This role plays a key part in establishing and maintaining robust quality control (QC) procedures, including the development of tools to facilitate the achievement of high design standards such as templates, asset libraries, and project review procedures. Working closely with the Creative Director and Workflow Manager, the Design Team Lead supports day-to-day operations and drives design excellence across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the design process with a strong focus on quality control and continuous improvement
  • Guide and support the design team in producing creative work of the highest standard
  • Oversee project delivery, including timeline management, print coordination, and delivery logistics
  • Liaise with external suppliers to ensure all specifications and quality expectations are met
  • Develop and maintain design assets and templates, proactively responding to client needs and anticipating future requirements.
  • Collaborate with the internal Talent Acquisition team and external agencies to support recruitment for the design team
  • Provide cover for the Workflow Manager when required

Key Competences

  • Formally design trained with a relevant qualification in graphic design
  • An excellent knowledge and experience of printing techniques and issues
  • Extensive experience in digital products and asset creation
  • Skilled in estimating, project management, print buying and scheduling
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to present ideas clearly to clients and internal teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
