🚀 About Flow:

Flow is massively accelerating the development of next-generation hardware systems. We’re on a mission to reinvent the way humanity develops its most important machines.

We’re backed by Sequoia Capital with angel investors including Patrick & John Collison (Stripe), David Helgason (Unity) and Kyle Parrish (Figma).

Flow is the default requirements tool for complex systems engineering used by next gen space, defense, automotive and robotics companies. When humanity returns to the Moon, builds fusion power, or lands the first interplanetary colony - Flow will have played a vital role.

👷‍♂️ What you’ll do
  • Build features that help solve the hardest (hardware) engineering problems in the world

  • Rapidly sketch product ideas in Figma, to test on users

  • Take an idea from a customer call you had to production, in hours

  • Create beautiful features using a library you’ve been excited to use

  • Spot simpler, quicker solutions to user problems in team brainstorms

  • Jump on a call with a user who’s having trouble with the feature you shipped for them

🧠 About you
  • 2+ years experience as either a Designer or Software Engineer

  • Passionate about solving human problems. Love the feeling of getting something done

  • Not afraid to develop strong opinions. Even less afraid to change them when presented with opposing evidence

  • Skilled at both designing and building products. Strong Figma and CSS are essential. Demonstrate this with a personal website, or portfolio (e.g. Dribble page)

  • Learn from users, not “educate” them

  • Comfortable with compromising on what you think is best for the sake of solving a user’s pain sooner than had you not compromised

  • Always able to understand the bigger picture/”Why” - If/when you don’t, you’re not afraid to say so - others probably don’t either

  • Good communicator - Clear, concise internally while being empathetic, courteous externally

🖥️ Our Tech Stack
  • Typescript / React / NextJS (Frontend)

  • Styled Components

  • Figma for Design

  • Golang (Backend)

  • Terraform for managing infrastructure

  • AWS for cloud

  • Docker

  • PostgreSQL database

  • GraphQL, Hasura, Apollo Client

💡 Learn About How we Think
  • How to Build an MVP (Michael Seibel)

  • Code-first vs Product-first (Zach Lloyd)

  • Ideas of Don Norman

    • Observe, Test, Iterate, and Learn

    • Design for how people think

♥️ What We Value
  1. Speed over everything. If you go over a pothole at 20 mph, you really feel it. If you go over at 200 mph, you barely feel it. Everything we do, we need to do with urgency. This is our superpower and why we win. This is a discipline that requires effort and focus every day.

  2. Own, Downscope, ship, iterate: We work in small, fast cycles. Our philosophy is to downscope and ship. The goal is to get a v1 out today and learn from seeing it used. We work with users not at them. Execution is the sole currency by which our customers value us. This does not always mean success at the first iteration, but we must be fully committed to delivering.

  3. Fundamentals done well: Most success comes from mastering the basics. The trade off is always scope, never quality. This is why we prioritize simplicity. Doing so requires extreme clarity of thought: a talent for cutting to the essence of a problem, communicating it well and then solving it.

  4. Disagree and Commit: To move fast, we have to decide fast. That means debating ideas hard, then committing fully once a decision is made.

  5. Enjoy the climb: Climbing Everest is hard. The air thins, your body falters, and you pass those who didn’t make it. But we’re here to keep climbing. This is the work that will define us. Enjoy the climb. The view at the top only means something if you loved the journey getting there.
