Own Recraft’s brand voice across launches, social media, video scripts, SEO content, UX copy, naming, and product storytelling. The role partners closely with design, product, and AI research teams, requiring strong written English, design fluency, hands-on AI tool experience, and a distinctive editorial voice. Candidates should provide writing samples and be comfortable creating everything from long-form articles to concise interface copy.

Recraft is a graphic design research lab building state-of-the-art image generation models and tools for designers, illustrators, marketers, and developers.
Founded in 2022 and based in London, we build for commercial design standards: full creative control, style consistency, and native vector outputs, an API for teams who want to integrate that capability directly into their workflows, plus mobile app for those who prefer not to be distracted from the process without a computer.
Over 3 million creators across 190+ countries use Recraft. Our mission is to help everyone who works with visuals get the job done, without lowering the bar on design.
If you want to help set that standard, we'd like to hear from you.

About the role

Most AI companies sound the same. We'd rather not.

We're looking for a copywriter who understands design from the inside: someone who has designed, or still does, and writes like a person with opinions, not a model with a prompt. You'll own how Recraft sounds, from the tone of voice guidelines down to the label on a button.

This role is for someone who uses the product every day, knows what designers actually need, and can turn a model release into a story worth reading. It isn't a content calendar to fill.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shape our tone of voice. Develop and evolve Recraft's voice guidelines, and make sure the brand sounds like itself in every channel.

  • Write the launches. Write social posts, release announcements, and launch copy for new models and features across X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Discord.

  • Write for the camera. Write scripts and copy for motion videos, tutorials, interviews, and other storytelling formats.

  • Join creative launches. Contribute to special projects and campaigns, with your focus on the words.

  • Run the blog with search in mind. Write and edit SEO articles that rank and are still worth reading.

  • Write inside the product. Work with product and design on UX copy in Recraft Studio: onboarding, empty states, tooltips, and feature descriptions.

  • Name things. Help name new models, features, and products, and write the copy that introduces them.

  • Use Recraft Studio. A lot. Test new models before they ship, find what's interesting, and write from first-hand experience.

Who You'll Work With

You'll report to Head of Content and work as part of Creative Team. Day to day, you'll work closely with design, product, and the researchers who build our models, so you'll hear about releases early and in detail.

Requirements
  • A design background (graphic, brand, type, UI, or editorial) with writing as your main craft. Or you're a writer who has spent years working closely with designers and speaks fluent design. Content creators, social media writers, and brand or blog writers who've built a recognizable voice for a brand or for themselves are equally welcome.

  • Excellent written English (C2 or equivalent): writing that's natural, idiomatic, and ready to publish. Plus a voice of your own.

  • Work you can show: published articles, a blog or newsletter, social accounts you've run, or product copy you've shipped.

  • Range. You can go from a launch post to a 2,000-word article to a button label without losing the voice.

  • Hands-on experience with AI tools. You use them regularly, and your writing still doesn't sound like them.

  • Curiosity about the design world: what designers are making, arguing about, and struggling with.

Nice to have
  • A personal blog, newsletter, or Substack about design, type, visual culture, or AI

  • SEO writing experience

  • UX writing or content design experience

  • Naming experience

  • Scriptwriting for video or motion

  • Experience at a design tool, creative tech company, or design studio

What We Offer
  • Ownership of the voice of a product that designers use every day

  • Close work with design, product, and the people who build our models

  • Room to experiment with formats, channels, and ideas

  • A competitive salary, with bonus potential tied to your performance review.

  • A team that means it when it says it wants to build the best product in the category: people who give each other direct, useful feedback, share context openly, and step in to help without being asked.
