The Debt & Capital Advisory team is an integral part of Grant Thorntons Advisory business, providing independent advice and execution to private and listed companies, private equity sponsors and real estate sponsors across the range of debt, equity and capital markets.

The Debt & Capital Advisory team is involved in complex transactions, raising capital for borrowers across all sectors of the market, in the UK and overseas, and from banks and alternative lenders. The team operates across the national footprint and consists of a range of experienced members that will support your growth within the firm.

Your role within this exciting and growing team will be that of a core team member supporting in all aspects of the client experience, from business development, pitching and winning work, to working on all aspects of the end to end financing process and assisting clients in achieving their funding objectives. Our engagements span all sectors and the range of Debt & Capital Advisory mandates from advising on optimal capital structures, buy and sell side projects, growth capital, refinancing's and restructuring of existing debt and other facilities.

A look into the role  

As an Associate Director, you will: 

  • Work on a broad range of debt & capital advisory projects and have regular interaction with private equity sponsors, companies, banks, advisors and other service lines within Grant Thornton.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, lenders, and investors, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Oversee the preparation of and input to project materials, and lead client and lender communications.
  • Undertake financial modelling, including analysis of business forecasts, evaluation of scenarios, comparison of proposed debt terms and structures and covenant calculations.
  • Be responsible for driving the day-to-day project management and driving it through it through to execution.
  • Support senior leadership in identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and contributing to deal origination. Building your own pipeline of opportunities through the relationships that you will lead.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members, ensuring high-quality deliverables and fostering a collaborative culture.

Knowing you’re right for us  

Joining us as a Associate Director, the minimum criteria you’ll need is to have:

  • Experience gained within a professional services environment, relevant Advisory firm, or a lender.
  • Proven experience of managing client engagements and strong relationship management skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.  

  • Leveraged finance background is helpful, but not a requirement.
  • Experience working with banking legal documentation.
  • A degree or equivalent
