Job Overview

  • Role: We are seeking a Data Solution Specialist specialising in Microsoft Fabric to support a key data initiative for a major international insurance organisation based in London.
  • Work Location: London, hybrid (regular on-site presence in the City of London required).
  • Indicative Salary Range: £60,000 - £75,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Solution Delivery: Contribute to the design and hands-on implementation of end-to-end data solutions on Microsoft Fabric (lakehouse, pipelines, semantic models, Power BI) aligned with business use cases.
  • Data Methodology: Support the adoption and implementation of Data Mesh and Data Product approaches across business domains.
  • Data Governance: Collaborate with governance teams to apply metadata, lineage, and data quality frameworks using Microsoft Purview.
  • Operating Model Support: Assist in defining the Data Target Operating Model (Data TOM), including workflows, documentation, and domain responsibilities.
  • Platform Operations: Support the configuration of DataOps and platform operations, focusing on deployment automation, monitoring, and performance management.
  • Innovation: Help identify opportunities to automate data activities and workflows using AI features within the Fabric ecosystem.
  • Compliance: Ensure all built solutions align with FSI regulatory expectations regarding data governance, auditability, security, and GDPR.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business teams to translate functional requirements into scalable data products.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Around 4–6 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data solution delivery roles.
  • Technical Focus: Solid hands-on experience building components within Microsoft Fabric (lakehouse, pipelines, semantic layer).
  • Architectural Awareness: Good familiarity with modern data concepts (Lakehouse, Data Mesh, Data Fabric); deep structural design experience is not mandatory.
  • Data Management: Knowledge of data modelling, data quality, and lifecycle management processes.
  • Consultative Mindset: Demonstrated interest in data strategy, operating models, and governance topics within enterprise environments.
  • Industry Exposure: Prior experience delivering data solutions within regulated industries or financial services (FSI) is a strong plus.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Soft Skills: High level of empathy and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
