We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Business Analytics team within Spotify’s Business Strategy and Insights organization. You will work with the Audiobooks Analytics Lead to help shape our global audiobooks strategy and improve the experience for listeners, creators, publishers, and authors.

In this role, you will use data analysis, experimentation, and statistical modeling to evaluate some of the most important opportunities facing our audiobooks business. Your work will span content and catalog strategy, discovery and recommendations, subscriber growth, and new product and commercial initiatives. You will turn complex questions into clear recommendations and help senior leaders make confident decisions.

You will collaborate with a distributed team of analysts, data scientists, business leaders, product managers, editorial partners, and engineers. At Spotify, you will have access to rich datasets and the autonomy to explore them creatively and rigorously. Above all, your work will help shape how the world listens to and discovers audiobooks.

What You'll Do

  • Develop data-driven strategies for audiobook catalog, content discovery, listener engagement, and subscriber growth.
  • Evaluate new product, content, licensing, and commercial opportunities through forecasting, scenario modeling, and impact measurement.
  • Partner with Editorial, Personalization, Product, Finance, and Business teams to improve title selection, recommendation quality, and the listener experience.
  • Design and analyze experiments, including A/B tests and quasi-experiments, to measure the impact of product and go-to-market initiatives.
  • Monitor the health of the audiobooks business, identify emerging opportunities or risks, and translate them into clear recommendations.
  • Develop reliable analytical datasets, tools, and reporting that make important insights accessible and repeatable.
  • Work with analytics engineering and data partners to improve data quality and create scalable ways of working.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leaders, influencing the direction of our product and business.

Who You Are

  • You have 3+ years of professional experience in data science or analytics, ideally in consumer technology, media, subscriptions, marketplaces, or a similarly complex business.
  • You are fluent in SQL and proficient in Python, R, or another programming language, with a strong grasp of statistical methods, experimentation, and causal inference.
  • You combine analytical rigor with strong business judgment and can cleanly extract the “so what” from complex analysis.
  • You are comfortable working through ambiguous problems, structuring open-ended questions, and identifying a practical path forward.
  • You enjoy collaborating with a wide range of cross-functional partners and can build trust across technical and non-technical teams.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can present complex findings clearly to senior leaders and audiences with different levels of technical knowledge.
  • You have a degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with product analytics, recommendation systems, content businesses, or digital marketplaces is a plus.

Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in London.
  • We offer flexibility to work where you work best. There will be some in-person meetings, while still allowing flexibility to work from home.
