About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Data & Research Analyst to join us! You will join IGNITE – Grayling’s central strategic, creative and digital team. Working closely with our Data & Insights Director, you’ll be working on clients across the business, analysing data from our toolsuite and delivering on primary research projects – as well as growing your knowledge of research approaches, your reporting skills and ability to home in on the most compelling insights.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting data with the bigger cultural picture – spotting patterns, behaviours and emerging trends, and turning them into meaningful insights that help strategists, creatives and account teams develop impactful campaigns for our clients.

 

The day to day

  • Extracting and analysing data from various research tools and platforms, including social listening (Talkwalker), search (SEMrush) and audience (Global Web Index)
  • Taking an active role on primary research projects, including liaising with fieldwork recruiters and survey providers
  • Supporting new business research, collaborating with strategy and account teams to combine desk research, data and cultural insight to inform strategic thinking
  • Identifying cultural, behavioural and trend-led insights within datasets, helping teams understand why people think and act the way they do
  • Contributing to reports and insight reports on paid client projects, and presenting elements back to teams and clients
  • Keeping up to date with emerging cultural, media and digital trends, and bringing relevant perspectives into research outputs

What will give you the edge

Our best work is built on strong evidence, sharp thinking and a deep understanding of the world people live in. We’re therefore looking for someone with an inherent curiosity about how people behave, how culture, trends and societal shifts shape opinions, and how brands, businesses and politics intersect with these forces.

You will:

  • Have a strong understanding and working knowledge of excel formulas and functionality (e.g. VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, text to columns, etc.)
  • Previous experience of extracting data and work with digital metrics from platforms such as Google Analytics, Native Social Media Platforms and social listening tools (e.g. Talkwalker, Linkfluence, Pulsar, Brandwatch, etc)
  • Ideally have previous agency experience with an emphasis on working closely account teams and translating data into actionable insights
  • Some experience with qualitative (e.g. focus groups) or quantitative (e.g. surveys) primary research
  • Enjoy problem solving, thinking creatively about how to answer questions, and working collaboratively with others
  • Have excellent attention to detail, alongside the ability to step back and see the bigger picture
  • Have strong writing and communication skills, and can translate data into clear, compelling insight
  • Previous experience or understanding of SEO welcomed, but not essential
