The Data Quality Analyst will monitor data quality, identify and resolve issues, improve processes, and ensure compliance with standards, particularly in financial contexts.
What you will be doing
- Data Quality Monitoring:
- Design, implement, and maintain data profiling, cleaning, and validation processes tailored to financial data sets.
- Develop automated quality checks and dashboards to continuously monitor data integrity and performance.
- Issue Identification & Resolution:
- Conduct in-depth root cause analysis to identify data anomalies, inconsistencies, and gaps.
- Collaborate with IT, data engineering, risk management, and compliance teams to resolve data issues and improve overall data governance.
- Process Improvement:
- Define and implement data quality standards and best practices in line with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
- Propose and lead initiatives to optimise data workflows and streamline data management processes.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Generate comprehensive data quality reports and visualisations to inform senior management and key stakeholders.
- Translate complex data quality metrics into actionable insights for non-technical teams.
- Data Governance & Compliance:
- Work alongside data stewards and data owners to ensure adherence to established data policies and procedures.
- Support audits and compliance checks by providing accurate and well-documented data quality documentation.
Your Skills and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in data quality management, data governance, or a data analysis role, preferably within a financial services environment.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake leveraging its data warehousing capabilities to design, test, and maintain high-quality datasets.
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with data manipulation.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data quality/orchestration software.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and modern data warehousing concepts.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with diverse teams.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Prior exposure to data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements in the UK financial sector.
- Relevant certifications in data management or analytics (e.g., CDMP, DAMA).
