Job Summary:
The Data Quality Analyst is responsible for assessing, analysing, and improving the quality of data across the region. This role involves working closely with data SME’s, IT, and business teams to identify data quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures. The Data Quality Analyst will also monitor data quality metrics and support the maintenance of data governance standards. In addition the role includes developing data quality controls within data transformation projects.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Transformation Projects:
  • Work within project teams to identify practical ways to implement Data Quality Controls and reporting.
  • Consider and suggest improvements to process design, such as Data Pipeline Reconciliations, with the overall aim of delivering improved Data Quality.
  • Clearly communicate with project teams and business stakeholders the delivery steps and timelines necessary to develop and implement Data Quality improvements.
  • Use coding skills to develop Data Quality processes and Controls.
  • Estimate and manage the development time that supports the accurate tracking of defined tasks, with clear progress reporting across project teams.

  1. Data Quality Assessment & Analysis:
  • Perform regular data quality assessments to identify issues related to accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Analyse large datasets to detect data quality problems, including duplicates, missing data, and inconsistencies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine the underlying reasons for data quality issues.
  • Use Informatica IDMC to track data lineage, perform data profiling, and support overall data governance activities.
  • Design and run automated checks to monitor data quality, using tools such as SQL and IDMC.

 

  1. Data Quality Improvement:
  • Work with data subject matter experts (SME’s) and IT teams to implement data cleansing, standardisation, and other data quality improvement processes.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to resolve data quality issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data quality rules and standards.

  1. Data Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Help maintain dashboards and reports that monitor data quality across the business.

  • Create ad-hoc reports and analyses using tools which may include Alteryx, Python, Qlik, and Power BI to meet business requirements.

  • Maintain or develop Qlik Sense/Power BI dashboards to support ongoing reporting needs.


  1. Collaboration & Support:
  • Work with data owners to define and agree dataset-specific quality standards.
  • Provide support and guidance on data quality matters within the data team.
  • Detect and investigate data quality issues, assisting with timely resolution.
  • Support data governance initiatives and regulatory requirements by ensuring data quality standards are adhered to.

  1. Documentation:
  • Document data quality standards, testing methods, and framework usage.
Qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data querying and reporting.

  • Experience in designing or running data quality checks, validations, or testing routines.

  • Experience working with Databricks or similar data engineering platforms.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment to track data project processes.

  • Comfortable using Git for version control and collaborating with others on code. 
  • Experience using Data Governance tools such as IDMC for data lineage, data profiling, and data governance activities.

  • Experience with Alteryx and knowledge of Python would be advantageous.

  • Insurance knowledge an advantage, though not essential.

  • Able to work effectively with colleagues from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Eligible to work in the UK (or relevant country for the role).
