Job Description
As a Data Protection and Storage Management Director within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you will be part of the Chief Data Office, dedicated to creating business impact through the governance and implementation of requirements necessary to protect and store the firm's data, which is critical to the firm's reputation and our relationships with clients, third parties, and regulators. This Executive Director role offers a unique opportunity to lead critical data protection and storage initiatives within a high-profile Chief Data Office organisation, ensuring robust governance and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities:

  • As the lead for Data Protection and Data Storage, you will serve as a senior contact responsible for adherence to firmwide policies, standards, regulations, and laws related to data protection and storage within the business area.
  • Create and maintain governance artifacts, including Data Protection and Storage Procedures to adhere with firmwide policies and standards, such as the Data Risk Management Policy and Standard, and Privacy Incident Standard.
  • Oversee operational BAU activities, including the Incident Response Team and Localisation Administration Team.
  • Create and deliver monthly data protection and storage metrics, highlighting key risks to inform senior escalation forums.
  • Contribute to the creation of data incident related Legal Entity metrics for EMEA and APAC CDOs to demonstrate appropriate governance.
  • Act as a senior stakeholder, interacting with Data Loss Prevention and Supplier Threat Intelligence & Incident Response team, Firmwide CDO team, Regional CDOs, Business Controls Manager, Legal, Compliance, other data pillar leads and key partners.
  • Oversee access management and entitlements governance frameworks.
  • Support the business in preparing for protection and storage-related audits, CCOR tests, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Routine maintenance of all associated team program scorecards and roadmaps across Run the Bank and Change the Bank initiatives


Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in overseeing global operational deliveries and controls, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster a culture focused on quality, speed of execution, risk management, and operational scalability.
  • Strong track record in building and leading a global, diverse and motivated team by attracting, retaining, and coaching top talent.
  • Expertise in enabling data-driven decision-making through careful metric design and effective communication.
  • Ability to make informed decisions or influence stakeholders across multiple teams.
  • Proven capability to drive the evolution and adoption of data protection and data storage strategies across large organizations, with a focus on collaboration with firmwide Chief Data Office.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Financial Services industry
  • Proficient in data management, data analytics, and data-driven storytelling
