We are looking for a Data Protection Specialist to support and drive our 'Virtual DPO' (DPO-as-a-service) offerings. You will help define the governance framework for data information security and work with technical teams to help implement DLP solutions for our customers.


The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Classification and Handling, enabling DLP policies and Monitoring, as well as reviewing Structured and Unstructured Data.


Location: This role will be based 3 days p/week on-site with the customer (Cental London).

Job Description

  • Serve as the primary contact and liaison for all data protection related matters working under the direction of the customer's CISO.
  • Implement and maintain a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with applicable data protection regulations, including developing policies, standards and templates for data collection, and assist with data mapping, and vendor management reviews.
  • Work with key internal stakeholders in the review of projects, related data, and agreements to ensure compliance with local data privacy laws, and where necessary, complete and advise on privacy impact assessments.
  • Reviews vendor contracts (including Model Clauses) and consents needed to implement projects in partnership with the customer's Information Security functions and ensures filing requirements with local regulators are achieved.
  • Participate in the Data and Information Technology Governance Committees.
  • Develop and deliver privacy training to various business functions.
  • Coordinate and conduct data privacy audits.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security function(s) to maintain records of all data assets and exports and maintain a data security incident management plan to ensure timely remediation of incidents including impact assessments, security breach response, complaints, claims or notifications, and responding to subject access requests (SARs).
  • Work with designated attorneys/lawyers across the organization and, where necessary, outside parties to help advise on local data privacy law issues.
  • Perform and review various Data Protection Impact Assessments ("DPIA") including advising on privacy by design and by default requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with privacy and data protection related laws and regulations (GDPR, AI acts, Digital acts, etc.) and providing support to the Data Protection Officer in its day-to-day duties.
  • Identifying and evaluating UK data processing activities and helping in maintaining the firm's data protection related registers up to date. 
  • Handling requests made by data subjects/individuals exercising their rights under GDPR;
  • Preparing and implementing various appropriate GDPR/Data Protection guidelines, policies and notices;
  • Assisting in case of data breach/incident;
  • Assisting on Data Processor Agreement matters;
  • Raising awareness and providing Management and staff training regarding GDPR and privacy regulations;
  • Assisting in proactively designing risk mitigations strategies, procedures and guidelines adapted to emerging privacy, AI and cybersecurity threats, market industry developments and regulatory changes.
