Lonza is looking for a motivated and experienced Data Protection Manager (60-80%) to join our dynamic and diverse team located in Basel, Switzerland. The Data Protection Manager is typically responsible for ensuring Lonza meets its obligations under data protection and privacy laws within their particular jurisdiction, e.g. under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) / Schweizer Bundesgesetz über den Datenschutz (DSG). As part of your responsibilities, you will provide expert advice and support to ensure compliance with data protection laws and assist Lonza, its employees, and relevant third parties in managing risks and meeting their obligations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare data protection or transfer impact assessment and other ad-hoc assessments for projects, initiatives, processes involving personal data to ensure adherence to data protection requirements.

  • Improve and maintain Lonza's data protection framework, specifically the register of processing activities.

  • Further develop data protection framework processes, procedures and controls.

  • Support the implementation of any privacy law impacting the group.

  • Provide support for the handling of data subject requests.

  • Promote and foster a data protection culture within the organization.

  • Contribute to the AI Risk Framework in line with the Lonza Global AI roadmap.

  • Collaborate within the Lonza Global Network to exchange standard methodologies.

Key requirements:

  • Higher education (university / FH) in Law, Economics or equivalent education and professional background in Compliance, IT, IT Security, Risk Management, Regulatory Advisory or Audit preferable, however not mandatory.

  • Certifications such as IAPP or CAS would be an asset.

  • 3-5 years of practical experience in the field of Data Privacy in a similar function.

  • Proficiency in performing DPIAs, TIAs, DPAs, and implementing standardized policies, protocols, and training programs, including the necessary documentation such as agreements with vendors and partners.

  • Good understanding and knowledge of IT, IT security, cyber security aspects in relation to data protection. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Hands-on mentality with capability to work independently.

  • Proficiency in German and English.
