About the Hiscox Data, Analytics, and AI Team

The Hiscox Global Data, Analytics, and AI Team is applying data-powered innovation across the organisation to deliver tangible commercial value through business growth and efficiency. The team consists of a central function setting strategy, Business Unit teams providing execution capacity, and technology providing for Data Engineering and ML Operations services.

The Role

The Data Product Manager (Band 3b) is a key leadership role within the Global Data Function. Responsible for setting the product strategy and detailed roadmap for Data Products within a given domain. Acting as the intersection between business strategy, technology, and user needs, this role ensures that data products deliver tangible value, are aligned with stakeholder expectations, and adhere to industry best practices. This role is also responsible for matrix management of delivery teams and the ongoing coaching and mentoring of business stakeholders in both the value of data and how to identify opportunities to improve it.

Key Responsibilities

· Product Strategy & Vision: Define and communicate a clear vision for data products, setting strategic goals that align with business objectives and market opportunities.

· Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering, analytics, marketing) and external partners to understand requirements, prioritise initiatives, and manage expectations.

· Product Development Lifecycle Management: Lead cross-functional teams through ideation, design, development, testing, and deployment of data products, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.

· Data Culture: Ensure that data driven insights and data innovation is data product adoption, working to unblock data culture adoption challenges

· Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure products comply with data privacy regulations (such as GDPR), maintain data quality, and adhere to governance best practices.

· Performance Monitoring & Optimisation: Track product performance using key metrics, conduct regular reviews, and implement enhancements based on data-driven insights.

· Communication & Documentation: Produce clear documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment throughout the product lifecycle.

Person Specification

· Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with data architectures, analytics platforms, and emerging technologies (e.g., AI, machine learning).

· Business Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial strategies, market trends, governance frameworks and competitive landscapes.

· Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex data sets, derive actionable insights, and inform product decisions.

· Project Management: Skilled in Agile methodologies, project planning, and cross-functional team leadership.

· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to tailor messages for technical and non-technical audiences.

· Problem-Solving Mindset: Proactive approach to identifying challenges and implementing effective solutions.

Nice to Have

· Knowledge or experience of Insurance industry.

· Experience configuring with Jira, Confluence or similar collaboration tools.
