About 9fin

The world's largest asset class, debt, operates with the worst data.

Technology has revolutionized equity markets with electronic trading, quant algos and instantaneous news. However, in debt capital markets, the picture is completely different. It still behaves like it’s in the 1980s; trillions of dollars of trades are placed over the phone, news is slow, and corporate credit information is imperfect and scattered.

Our mission is to change this.

9fin's proprietary technology delivers fast and comprehensive financial, credit, legal & ESG analysis. Our clients are able to make faster, more informed decisions, win more business and most importantly, save time.

Our fast growing list of clients include 9 of the top 10 Investment Banks, leading Asset Managers, Hedge Funds and Law Firms.

What you’ll work on

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on:

  • Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics, ML, and BI systems.

  • Lead the development of solutions for streaming data ingestion and transformations in line with our streaming strategy

  • Design, build and test data products that are complex or large scale.

  • Building advanced automation of data engineering pipelines through removal of manual stages.

  • Sourcing new data using the most appropriate tooling for the situation.

  • Understand the impact on the organisation of emerging trends in data tools, analysis techniques and data usage.

  • Understand industry-recognised data modelling patterns and standards, and when to apply them.

About You

This role will be a great fit if you[(’re)]:

  • Love Python and you’re an experienced programmer who is passionate about code quality and testing.

  • Proficient in writing efficient, understandable SQL and you know the pros & cons of various approaches to processing data. Bonus points if you’ve worked with dbt before!

  • Proficient in data modelling, ETL/ELT technical design, data quality testing, cleansing and monitoring, data sourcing, and exploration/analysis.

  • Value agile methodologies, data-driven decision-making, reliability and incremental delivery. You’re able to work alongside a diverse set of stakeholders, ensuring alignment of solution with business need.

  • Have a solid understanding of Infrastructure As Code for Data related Platforms (e.g. experience with Terraform and Docker).

  • Experienced in using cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure and cloud warehouses (e.g. BigQuery, Snowflake) for building scalable/reliable data solutions.

  • If you had prior experience with a pipeline orchestrator such as Airflow, Dagster, Luigi then that would be great but not necessary!
