WisdomTree is seeking a Data Engineer to work closely within the Technology team to support, Data Engineering function to deliver on the team’s strategic vision.


As data continues to drive critical decision-making, WisdomTree is expanding its Data Engineering team to maintain a cutting-edge, scalable and secure data infrastructure.

 

This role involves taking ownership of critical projects, enabling team success, and driving innovation while ensuring the highest standards of data quality, governance, and scalability. You will play a key part in delivering modern data engineering solutions and collaborating with stakeholders to align data systems with broader business goals, while mentoring the junior members of the team.


Key Accountabilities and Scope 

Implement Data Strategy & Architecture

  • Develop and implement a robust, scalable data architecture that meets both current and future business needs using appropriate modern tools for data ingestion, processing, and storage.

Modern Data Stack Management

  • Build and maintain a modern data stack, including data lakes, warehouses, and pipelines for ingesting and processing data. Ensure that our data infrastructure is aligned with the requirements of data science and analytics teams.

Team Enablement

  • Work with the Data Engineering Lead and help deliver on all projects and objectives planned for the data engineering team’s vision.
  • Mentor the junior data engineers and help them to learn the modern tech stack and help ingrain best practices.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other teams—such as product development, operations, business & sales strategy—to ensure smooth data flows and timely communication of changes to the data model. Maintain clear communication between teams, especially in a hybrid working environment, and streamline the data delivery ecosystem for the stakeholders.

Data Governance & Security:

  • Bring in best practices for data governance, ensuring data privacy, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Drive Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Work alongside the Team Lead to stay informed of emerging trends, tools, and best practices in data engineering. Co-drive efforts to improve the efficiency, scalability, and performance of our data infrastructure by identifying opportunities and implementing innovative technologies and approaches that bring tangible value to the organisation.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Act as a bridge between technical teams and business users, communicating complex technical details in clear, understandable language. Help business leaders understand the impact of data engineering efforts on overall business goals and decisions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background: Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with proven delivery of implementing successful re-platforming of modern data solutions.
  • Experience: Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing technologies (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).

Technical Skills

  • Expertise in SQL, Python, and data modelling.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, DBT).
  • Develop solutions using best practices - version control using git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Pick up SSIS, SSRS and SSAS technologies to help migrate legacy tech.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data catalogue tools (e.g., Secoda, Alation) is desirable.

Soft Skills

  • Strong work ethic and willing to tenaciously tackle complex legacy enterprise systems and see through the completion of the deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical challenges and solutions to business stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset, with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
