Job Title: Data Analyst Apprentice

Location: Hemel Hempstead UK

As an Apprentice role this will be working 4 days a week with college the other day.

The Data Analyst Apprentice position is designed for individuals looking to start their career in data analysis. The apprentice will assist in collecting, processing, and analysing data to support business decisions. You will work under the guidance of experienced data analysts and gain hands-on experience with data tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply specific data knowledge, forecasting/analysis methods, and visualisation capabilities to offer valuable suggestions to business collaborators.
  • Identify data sources to meet the organisation's requirements, using evidence-based decision making to establish a rationale for inclusion and exclusion of various data sets and models.
  • Analyse data to acquire meaningful business and customer insights.
  • Participate in business and technical meetings to gather requirements and make recommendations for reporting/BI solutions.
  • Design, build, deliver, and maintain world-class reporting for all areas of the business using Power BI, serving both internal users and external customers.
  • Aid in the daily support of end-users to effectively and efficiently use the reporting platform.
  • Apply SQL to develop database objects for use in reporting.
  • Collaborate with the team and broader organisation to ensure data quality and integrity in data warehouse platforms for BI reporting.
  • Support the development of the BI roadmap based on project prioritisation and budget.
  • Communicate and collaborate with users to analyse information needs and functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with developers and domain experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs.
  • Practice continuous self-learning to keep up to date with technological developments to enhance relevant skills and take responsibility for own professional development.
  • Documentation of processes, logic and business requirements including but not limited to SOPs, process flows and ERD.

How will you get here?

  • NVQ Level 4 - 36 month duration
  • English & Math: Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment. For those with an education, health and care plan or a legacy statement, the apprenticeship’s English and maths minimum requirement is Entry Level 3. A British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is an alternative to the English qualification for those whose primary language is BSL.

You will learn:

  • Principles of statistics for analysing datasets.
  • Principles of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Fundamentals of data structures, data system design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Principles of user experience and domain context for data analytics.
  • Ability to apply a wide range of methodologies to data analysis tasks.
  • Use a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series forecasting, and modelling techniques to identify and predict trends and patterns in data.
  • Understanding of BI concepts and terminology, user experience, and domain context for data analytics.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Capable of prioritising multiple projects while achieving deadlines.
  • Logical and analytical approach.
  • Proficiency with O365 Applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with a focus on outcomes.
  • Ability to identify issues quickly, investigating and solving complex problems and applying appropriate solutions. Ensures the true root cause of any problem is found and a solution is identified which prevents recurrence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and connect with a range of internal and external collaborators using appropriate styles and behaviours to suit the audience.
  • Ability to collate and interpret qualitative and quantitative data and convert into infographics, reports, tables, dashboards and graphs.
  • Great teammate with the ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently.
  • Diligent and passionate about quality and new technology.
  • Highly dedicated, innovative, and focused on execution, with a willingness to do "what it takes” to deliver results.
  • Ability to respond and communicate in a timely manner with a sense of urgency.
  • Awareness of ethical aspects associated with the use and collection of data.

Please note this is an Apprentice role and not an experienced hire position. This is a UK based role and you must reside in the UK already.
