Credit Portfolio Management (CPM) is a global function that is responsible for actively managing MUFG Bank’s loan portfolio including monitoring the credit quality and efficiency of the loan portfolio, developing and executing hedging and loan sales strategies to protect/optimize the bank’s capital using real-market information, market research and traditional fundamental credit analysis. In addition, through it’s Public-isde team, CPM is in charge of pricing, valuing, and managing the Credit Valuation Adjustment of the Bank. This role is on the Public Side desk.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Day to day operational responsibility for processes, reporting, and hedging that contributes to the management of CVA risks and GCIB/JCIB loan book exposures hedging.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide operational support to pricing and managing CVA and executing CDS hedges mandated for the Bank’s loan book. While the team is public side and located on the trading floor, the role involves interaction with the private side teams in ECPMO as well as risk management and downstream operations teams. Providing timely and accurate Business as Usual (BAU) operations to facilitate the day to day running of the business.
Accountable and responsible to:
Run BAU operations such as: Daily Vamos data downloading, Position Keeper report, Daily Sovereign CDS reporting, Close of Business blotter, ICE limit Exposure reporting, Credit Exposure check, over Hedge Report. Support market assessment, price discovery, hedge strategy development, transaction sizing and pricing. Support trade execution, transaction documentation, reporting and reconciliation processes as well as to provide general administrative support. Develop tactical solutions to reporting or analysis needs. Act as liaison with client sales desks on CVA pricing and to support the management on CVA risks. Act as liaison for middle office and back office personnel in relation to transaction activity. Finding more efficient or alternative methods to improve BAU operations to optimise their efficiency. Continuously develop and improve the desks ability to increase CVA PnL hedge effectiveness through the use of the CVA PnL explain tools. Provide frequent and effective communication to Head of CVA & Execution regarding assignments in ECPMO. Request prompt feedback for business decisions from Head of CVA & Execution.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential:
Must demonstrate basic understanding of one of the following three skill sets:
- Corporate or project finance lending with some experience in corporate credit assessment;
- Credit pricing, statutory and economic return measures in the area of fixed income, regulatory capital;
- Trading and risk management strategies
Preferred:
- Risk management or P&L control prior experience
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
Essential
- Basic functional understanding of markets, asset pricing and risks as well as CDS as a product
- Proficient user of MS Excel
Preferred:
- working with Bloomberg and other market information systems
- Python/VBA utilisation
Education / Qualifications:
Essential
- Degree educated or demonstrating equivalent practical experience
Preferred:
- Business or Economics degree
- Numerical skills and computer literacy
