Customer Success Account Director — UK & US
About the job

This is an opportunity to take ownership of sees.ai’s most important customer relationship in the UK, while helping to develop that relationship in the US.

Our service with this foundational customer, the UK’s leading electricity transmission operator, has already progressed from trials into full operational rollout. Successfully growing a service across an organisation of this scale requires more than delivering the data.

The customer needs to understand where the value lies, how the service fits into its wider operation and what successful adoption looks like. Different stakeholders will have different priorities, and the scope of the relationship will continue to develop as both organisations learn more.

Success will also depend on understanding how major energy and utility organisations make decisions, procure new services and establish the governance required to adopt them at scale. You will need to work confidently across operational, commercial, procurement and executive stakeholders.

You will become the senior owner of that relationship, with overall responsibility for growing the account, while helping sees.ai develop senior customer relationships in the US.

Working directly with senior customer stakeholders, you will help define the business case for each phase of the relationship, establish how success will be measured and ensure that the customer can see the value sees.ai is creating.

You will work alongside our Client Delivery, Operations, Engineering and Commercial teams to turn those customer objectives into something sees.ai can deliver credibly and commercially.

As the account grows, you will recruit, develop and lead the Customer Success team needed to support customers in the UK and, in time, the US.

Details
Location: London (hybrid), with regular travel to our Chichester office and customer sites across the UK, and occasional travel to the US
Reports to: VP of Customer Success
Essential: Experience serving the energy, utility or critical infrastructure sector

The context

Energy grids worldwide are under enormous pressure from rising demand, ageing infrastructure and the transition to renewable generation. Operators need more frequent, consistent and detailed information about their networks than conventional inspection methods can provide.

sees.ai collects and delivers that information safely and at scale using autonomous UAS.

Today, the data primarily consists of high-resolution imagery, with the capability extending to video, thermal imaging and LiDAR. We develop the entire system in-house: the UAS, ground-control systems, cloud software and field operation itself.

Our work with the UK’s leading electricity transmission operator has already progressed from trials into full operational service. Growing that relationship, and supporting its development in the US, represents the next important stage of our growth.

This role will help shape and drive that growth, while developing the customer relationships that will underpin sees.ai’s broader expansion. You may also take responsibility for other accounts as they develop.

What you will do
  • Become sees.ai’s senior relationship owner for our foundational UK customer, with overall responsibility for growing the account.

  • Work with the customer to define the business case, outcomes and measures of success for each stage of the relationship.

  • Ensure the customer can see, and continues to realise, the value sees.ai is creating across its operation.

  • Navigate customer procurement, governance and decision-making processes to support wider operational adoption.

  • Translate emerging customer needs into clear briefs, working with Client Delivery, Operations and Engineering to ensure that sees.ai’s response is credible and deliverable.

  • Establish and run formal account governance, including executive steering committees, performance reviews, reporting and senior escalation.

  • Lead contract renewal, scope and pricing discussions, working with Commercial, Finance and Legal to agree sustainable terms.

  • Identify and develop opportunities to extend sees.ai’s work across the customer’s networks and operations.

  • Support the development of sees.ai’s key customer relationship in the US.

  • Manage the transition of relationships from sees.ai’s existing senior stakeholders, then recruit, develop and lead the Customer Success team required as the account grows.

  • Establish and grow relationships with other prospects and customers as the business evolves.

Essential skills and experience
  • Proven experience serving the energy, utility or critical infrastructure sector.

  • Significant experience owning and growing complex, high-value enterprise customer relationships.

  • Strong experience in at least one of the following:

    • managing strategic relationships with major energy or utility companies;

    • working within utility procurement, contracting or supplier-governance processes;

    • consulting to large energy, infrastructure or public-sector organisations.

  • Experience working with senior stakeholders inside large, complex or highly regulated organisations.

  • Experience navigating complex decision-making processes involving commercial, procurement, operational, technical and executive stakeholders.

  • A track record of developing a business case or commercial brief collaboratively with a customer.

  • The ability to establish where customer value lies and translate it into clear outcomes and measures.

  • Experience managing strategic accounts through a significant transition, such as moving from trial or pilot into wider commercial adoption.

  • A track record of growing account revenue through renewals, extensions and new areas of work.

  • Strong commercial judgement, including experience of renewals, scope discussions, pricing or contract negotiations.

  • Experience establishing and running formal customer governance, including steering committees and structured reporting.

  • The ability to work effectively alongside Delivery, Operations, Product, Data and Engineering without blurring ownership or making commitments on their behalf.

  • Confidence managing senior escalations while preserving trust and maintaining clear expectations.

  • Experience recruiting, developing and managing high-performing teams, scaling resources in line with account growth.

  • Willingness to travel regularly within the UK and occasionally to the US.

Desirable skills and experience
  • Direct experience working with a UK electricity network operator.

  • Experience working for, or consulting to, a major energy company, electricity network operator or national infrastructure organisation.

  • An established understanding of the UK energy regulatory and procurement environment.

  • Experience of US utilities or the US energy market.

  • Experience helping customers adopt a new operational technology or service at scale.

  • Experience in a growing technology company where roles, processes and customer propositions are still developing.

  • Familiarity with autonomous systems, UAS, data services, inspection technology or other operational technologies.

  • Experience introducing Customer Success governance, reporting or account-management systems from the ground up.

What success will look like
  • Our customer has a clear and evidenced understanding of the value sees.ai creates, and wants to continue and extend the relationship.

  • Our primary UK account grows through renewals, extensions and new areas of work.

  • sees.ai understands and can navigate the customer’s procurement, governance and decision-making processes effectively.

  • Senior customer relationships transfer successfully from sees.ai’s existing stakeholders without losing momentum or trust.

  • Customer Success and Client Delivery have clearly defined and effective responsibilities.

  • The customer receives consistent, accurate reporting and can see how delivery performance connects to the value they are seeking.

  • Contract renewals and extensions are agreed on sustainable commercial terms.

  • New opportunities across the customer’s networks, in the UK and the US, are identified, assessed and converted into well-defined areas of work.

  • Customer satisfaction is understood, monitored and improved.

  • The account has the right Customer Success resources and structure as it grows, with a team recruited, developed and retained to deliver consistently for the customer.

What we offer
  • Ownership of sees.ai’s most important customer relationship.

  • The opportunity to help a national infrastructure operator use a genuinely new data service at scale in the UK and the US.

  • Real influence over how sees.ai manages and grows its largest strategic account.

  • Close collaboration with senior leaders across Customer Success, Delivery, Operations, Engineering and Commercial.

  • A collaborative and ambitious team at a defining stage of growth.

  • A share in that growth through our EMI share-option scheme.

  • Competitive salary and benefits, flexible hybrid working and regular travel.
