As a Credit Control Officer (Junior) at Cromwell Hospital, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our finances healthy so we can keep delivering world‑class care. You’ll join our Billing & Credit Control team, part of the Cromwell Finance function, supporting Bupa UK Health Services. How you’ll help us make health happen
Reduce aged debt and outstanding accounts in line with hospital credit control policies.
Build strong relationships with customers and liaise daily with key contacts to secure prompt payment.
Produce routine debtor letters and chase overdue accounts by phone
Discuss account queries with patients and manage disputes, working with internal teams to resolve issues quickly
Review unallocated cash daily and match payments to invoices where possible.
Manage the Credit Control team mailbox and respond to general queries.
Support insurance and self‑pay debt processes as needed flexibility is key.
Maintain hospital refunds and assist with other tasks as directed by Team Leaders
Build effective working relationships across Finance and the wider business
Key Skill & Qualifications needed for this role
Previous experience in a financial administrator role is required
Strong customer service skills—you’ll be confident and professional when speaking with patients and clients.
Good Excel, Word and Outlook skills, with attention to detail and accuracy is essential
Analytical mindset—able to find relevant information and spot opportunities for improvement
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; calm under pressure and organised is required
Flexible and proactive—you’ll adapt quickly when priorities change
