The Team:

Eight-member corporate bond team managing in excess of USD25bn AuM across a range of long-only relative return & absolute return funds and long/short hedge funds.

About the Role:

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the best-performing and fastest-growing multi-billion-dollar hedge fund / long-only franchises globally. The successful candidate will work directly alongside an award-winning PM and Senior Analyst, contributing to a high-conviction, deep fundamental research process across EMEA financials, with a focus on banks and insurers.

This role offers long-term career progression: as the candidate establishes themselves in the team and the platform continues to scale, there is a clear path for the individual to be able to assume end-to-end responsibility for the origination, underwriting and implementation of trades within the investment funds.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Carry out detailed financial analysis of issuers in the financials sector, including in-depth assessment of issuer and security level risks
  • Build complete financial models encompassing forecasts, sensitivity analysis and stress testing
  • Take part in meetings with borrowers, investment banks (including sell-side research analysts) and other market stakeholders
  • Develop and manage relationships with relevant sell-side syndicate desks
  • Conduct detailed relative value analysis to identify secondary market trade opportunities

Skills and background:

  • 5–10 years' experience analysing European financials (hedge fund, high-quality long-only and sell-side all considered)
  • Educated to degree level, in a relevant subject
  • Financials specialist — primary focus on banks and insurers, experience of other financials sub-sectors useful but not a requirement
  • Strong fundamental credit analysis and financial modelling skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-conviction, deep-pocketed hedge fund environment
