Build end-to-end production workflows and working prototypes using generative image and video models. Pressure-test models and endpoints, create demo and customer boards for sales, and develop reusable templates, pipelines, and documentation to scale creative AI solutions across accounts.
About the Role
The Creative Technologist works close to the model and close to the craft, and translates between the two every day.
Close to the model, you pressure-test new endpoints and features before anyone else on the team, and you turn what Luma can do into working examples, not slides that describe it. You are the build engine behind Forward Deployed Creative: prospects and customers see, touch, and copy what you make.
Close to the craft, you bring a professional bar from brands, agencies, or production, so the workflows you build hold up under real creative scrutiny, not just in a demo. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. If you would rather build the thing than talk about building the thing, this is your seat.
How You'll Make an Impact
Build Engine & Prototyping
- Build end-to-end production workflows, from concept to final delivery, tailored to specific brand, agency, and entertainment use cases.
- Translate real customer briefs into working prototypes that prove what is possible.
- Pressure-test new models, endpoints, and features, developing techniques that push the frontier of generative image and video.
- Take handoffs from embedded FDCs and turn account-specific problems into working workflows fast.
Demo & Pitch Enablement
- Build demo boards that make Luma's value obvious in a live pitch, and partner with Sales on discovery and demo prep.
- Build customer boards that FDCs use inside accounts to drive adoption and consumption.
- Maintain a library of vertical-specific demos that stays current as models and features ship.
Pattern & Playbook Development
- Develop reusable boards, templates, and pipelines that scale across accounts and verticals.
- Document what works so winning patterns spread across the team instead of living in one person's head.
What You Bring
- Deep, hands-on experience using generative AI for image and video. You work in these tools daily and know where they break and where they shine.
- A background in brands, agencies, or film production and VFX. You understand how creative work actually gets made and shipped at a professional bar.
- A portfolio that demonstrates taste, craft, and range across mediums.
- Speed and a prototyping instinct. You solve creative problems by building, not by planning.
- Comfortable working alongside Sales and embedded creatives, translating between commercial goals and creative execution.
What Sets You Apart
- Experience at an innovative creative agency (e.g., Buck, The Mill) or an in-house tech/brand lab (e.g., Google Creative Lab, Unity).
- Hands-on experience building with generative AI APIs or integrating AI tools into production pipelines beyond off-the-shelf use.
- A public profile as a creator or thought leader in the generative AI or emerging tech space.
Luma’s mission is to build unified general intelligence that can generate, understand, and operate in the physical world.
We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So, we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
