Job Description

Due to increased opportunities and demand in the Energy & Natural Resources division, the team are recruiting for Cost Engineers to join a diverse and supportive team during a period of significant growth.

The role will require regular attendance on site in Teesside to support package engagement, progress alignment, cost reviews and interface with the wider project team. Site attendance is expected to be agreed based on package requirements, key meetings and reporting cycles.

Role Purpose

The Cost Engineer will provide package-level cost management, forecasting and performance analysis across key project scopes. The role will support Project Controls Management by ensuring cost information is robust, current and aligned with progress, commercial assurance, QS inputs and forecast outturn reporting.

The role will require close interface with Planning, Commercial, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Contractor and Subcontractor teams to provide clear visibility of actual cost, forecast cost, change, trends, commitments, variances and emerging cost risks

Required Experience

  • Cost Engineering experience on major construction projects, ideally within onshore Oil & Gas, petrochemical, clean energy, energy transition, power, utilities or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong experience in cost forecasting, cost reporting, variance analysis and Forecast to Complete / Forecast at Completion reviews.
  • Experience working with Contractor and Subcontractor cost data, progress information and package-level reporting.
  • Good understanding of construction delivery, site progress, productivity, commercial interfaces and package controls.
  • Ability to challenge cost submissions and provide evidence-based cost analysis.
  • Experience working within integrated Project Controls teams, with strong interfaces across Planning, QS, Commercial and Construction functions.
  • Strong Excel and cost reporting skills, with the ability to manage, analyse and present large volumes of cost data.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear cost narratives and reporting outputs.

Qualifications

Desirable Experience

  • Experience on client-side assurance or cost verification roles.
  • Experience with reimbursable, target cost or NEC-style contract environments.
  • Exposure to AFP reviews, cost audits, disallowed cost identification or commercial assurance.
  • Experience with Power BI, cost management systems, project controls dashboards or integrated reporting tools.
  • Prior experience supporting Buildings, HV, M&E, Civil or Utilities packages on major energy or infrastructure projects.
