ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are searching for a COO who has strong leadership skills, the ability to approach business with a creative point of view and is effective at implementing company strategies into daily operations. This role is newly created and will be an integral leader in a growing business. The business is in scale-up mode and we need someone to be the right-hand to the CEO | Climate, helping build a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met.
The COO will lead our team of high-performing associates to be productive and effective, while supporting the broader team and business objectives. The ideal candidate is seeking an opportunity to invest himself or herself into the vision for the business and do what it takes to set up the business for success. You are not rattled by uncertainty, risk, rapid change and adversity. Candidates exhibit strength in analysis, project management, communication and interpersonal influence. Commercial savvy and common sense are required, operational and/or financial and energy market experience are a major plus. Candidates must have a passion for our business and desire to be part of a collaborative, high-performing and enthusiastic team.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and talent strategy
- Translate and implement business strategies and plans that align with the short and long-term objectives
- Lead the planning, development and implementation of operational processes and systems to set-up our business for scale-up. Identify areas for systems and process enhancement working collaboratively across the team/ platform to make improvements
- Lead partnership with the internal leaders of Finance, HR, Legal and Technology, on behalf of the Climate team, to plan and implement playbooks, systems and processes with them
- Partner with CEO in capital and capacity management to budget for near-term investment and growth targets
- Manage capital investments and expenses to ensure that the business achieves targets for growth and profitability
- Evaluate business performance and prepare detailed updates and forecasts
- Build and maintain trusting relationships with all stakeholders on behalf of the Climate business (across Climate, Nephila, Markel and externally)
- Manage strategic initiatives
- Manage high-performing associate pool

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM (Qualifications):
- You have Bachelor’s degree
- You have 10+ years relevant work experience, with 5+ year in executive leadership roles
- Energy market or Financial Services experience is a plus
- You have a solid grasp of data analysis, performance metrics, financials and business planning
- You have enough experience in data, systems, and team design to have seen examples of what good and bad look like and intuition for how to navigate to success

- Total cash compensation between 225,000 - 300,000 GBP
