Job Description

Role/Programme:

As a Content Design Intern, you’ll join our Design team in the summer. This is an exciting opportunity to kick start your career and make a meaningful impact. You will be joining us for 10 weeks in the summer (23rd June - 29th August 2025).You’ll be onboarded with the global internship cohort in one of our offices and learn the basics of being a Wiser.
In 2023, we founded a Design Interns programme and we’re delighted to welcome new talent to our award-winning team for a third season.

We are looking for rising stars to join our Design team. Design at Wise is a multidisciplinary team and we sometimes call it capital ‘D’ Design. While our craft is varied, human-centred design and design thinking unite us.

Are you:

  • Able to explain complex ideas simply and elegantly?
  • A linguistics student who is passionate about language and its close connection with behavioural psychology and sociology?
  • An English literature student who understands and applies writing techniques to create interesting and accessible content?
  • A media or journalism student who knows how to identify target audiences and shape engaging content for them?
  • A student who proactively finds ways to use your writing skills, such as working for a student magazine or blog?

And have you ever thought:

  • “I love what I’m studying, but I have no idea how to turn it into something I get paid for.”

May we introduce you to content design — a super exciting internship opportunity at Wise.

What’s content design?

Content design (also known as UX writing) is about surfacing the right information at the right time in a way that customers understand. You’ll often find content designers working for the government or tech organisations: think Google, Meta, Government Digital Services (GDS), etc.

It combines writing skills, user research, and design thinking all into one role. Gov.uk has a great blog explaining what this career is all about.

You’ll collaborate with product designers and managers, user researchers, engineers and analysts.

Your work will be varied. One day you might be interviewing customers to understand their needs. Next, you may be rewriting some copy to make a part of the customer experience clearer. Or, you might be sketching some ideas for an entirely new experience altogether.

Lots of experienced content designers have a background in journalism, copywriting or marketing. So, if you’re studying something related to these fields, and you’re interested in a career in the digital sector, love writing, and want to collaboratively solve problems, then content design could be a great career for you.

What does a content design internship at Wise involve?

You'll be matched with a Wise sponsor in Design, collaborating with other Wisers and fellow interns on cross-functional projects. We plot our moves every quarter, and your exact project will be mapped out with your sponsor closer to when you start. You’ll have plenty of room to help define your scope.

How You’ll Make an Impact: In this role, you will:

  • You’ll get to know Wise customers, building empathy and deep understanding of their needs.
  • You’ll be learning about and practising content design in a collaborative environment.
  • You’ll be connecting with your sponsor, fellow interns, and the broader design community to inject fresh creative thinking into the business.

Qualifications

About you:

  • You are graduating in 2026
  • You are able to start a 10 weeks internship from June 23rd 2025
  • The ability to contextualise and build a narrative around your work
  • Analytical, assessment and problem solving skills, you’re a proactive problem finder, not just a problem solver
  • An open attitude to feedback and willingness to learn
  • Foundational knowledge of the discipline you are applying for (we don’t expect you to know everything, but you need to have enough skill to navigate the organisation and work)
  • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom

What You’ll Bring:

  • You’ve got a selection of work that shows how you’ve designed clear, accessible and inclusive content to solve a problem — this could be UX writing or long-form content. This showcases how you approached the problem, your thought process, any learnings, and the impact you made (if applicable).
  • You’re familiar with style, vocabulary and tone of voice guidelines. You know when to ramp it up or tone it down. You might have a case study to demonstrate this.
  • You think big and think small — you’ve got a keen eye for detail but always consider the big picture user journeys and how your words impact them.
  • You know the importance of asking the right questions and using data and research to get down to the real problems.

Heads up — this is a UX/product-focused role, so won’t be suitable if you’re looking for experience in creative copywriting or marketing.
