BUSINESS UNIT DESCRIPTION 

  • The Technology Infrastructure and Innovation (TI&I) group spans the areas of Information Technology, Infrastructure, Transformation, Security, Enterprise Programs & Optimization. This group executes on enterprise programs, manages and enhances the technology and operational processes that run CIBC’s businesses worldwide, as well as providing specialized service and advice to our business partners. 
  • CIBC UK Technology is responsible for the delivery and operations of technology in support of CIBC lines of business and clients. Through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners, the team delivers world-class solutions in order to realize business opportunities and enhance client relationships. 

Overview of the function/ team.  

  • The Consultant, Telecommunications is responsible for assisting the design, implementation, and support of major telecommunications networks including voice, data, and market data services for a multi-platform, distributed environment. 
  • The individual will work closely with the UK Network/Voice/MDS team, as well as Toronto support teams & telco vendors.
  • The role supports a technology strategy and capability that meets or exceeds customer requirements and is in compliance with Corporate Technology Standards. As multi-national financial services organisation we are constantly embracing the latest technologies.   
  • You will be a key resource within the team, helping with the implementation and lifecycle management of a business-critical infrastructure in Europe across 4 sites.  

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY  

In this role the candidate will provide technical support, applying their knowledge and skills as they will be assisting in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications/networks/MDS and hardware. They should be prepared to work on multiple projects per year and as part of part of this process they can expect to develop their skills to an expert level for the systems/applications that they install and support.

The role analyses system usage and performance to determine telecommunications system requirements, interpreting complex information to recommend improvements for management consideration. The role independently resolves a variety of ambiguous challenges with organization-wide impacts on cost and efficiency, devising new methods using strong analytic and inductive thinking. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITES 

  • Technical support of the Europe region network estate 
  • Assisting the support for firewall and internet monitoring technologies, ensuring that external communications for end users remains stable and secure.   

•    Proactively monitor and enhance the network and data centre environments by ensuring alerts generated by the system are managed and progressed 

  • Provide engineering support for all customers, with problem definition, troubleshooting, administering and resolution of telephony requirements on both the Cisco PBX, IPC trader turrets, Mobile Voice Recording.
  • Assist colleagues in supporting and administering Market Data services. (Bloomberg/Refinitiv/EBS,ICAP) 
  • As part of the team, plan and implement voice and data network upgrades, including the Risk analysis, Security, business analysis, development, support and documentation of solutions. 
  • Integrate automated processes where relevant and appropriate 
  • Manage and troubleshoot Europe office Wi-Fi (Cisco Meraki). 
  • Manage and troubleshoot Europe office IPTV, AV and meeting rooms.
  • Liaise with Change Control, Senior Management, Engineering, and 3rd party vendors to implement solutions. 
  • Ensure all technical documentation is maintained to an appropriate level and reflects the installed environment.
  • Act as the point of escalation for out-of-hours issues.
  • Undertake visits to data centre locations in order to support underlying technologies.
  • Handling administrative tasks, such as regulatory reporting/audit, billing/invoicing, starters & leavers.

  

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED  

  • Knowledge of IP routing (static and dynamic), DNS & DHCP.
  • An understanding of network security concepts and how these can be applied to network infrastructure 
  • Experienced in the support of Cisco (routers/switches), ISE (802.1x), Riverbed, FortiGate, Palo Alto, Infoblox, Cisco Meraki.
  • An understanding of Cisco CUCM and trading floor voice (IPC dealer boards), Mobile Device Management, Mobile Voice Recording.
  • An understanding of Market Data Services i.e. Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Tradeweb, Bloomberg, ICAP, EBS.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Cloud connectivity & AI.
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers of varying seniority and technical expertise. 
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple concurrent tasks and projects 
  • Work with a high degree of independence; to self-plan, prioritize and track technical tasks on large sized projects; and make effective judgments on issues needing management attention and/or action. 
  • CCNA / Network+
  • ITIL
