Position Overview
The Energy Connections Manager for the EMEA region is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire process of connecting new and existing data centres, generators, or developments to electricity, gas, and heat networks. In addition to technical and regulatory duties, this role requires strong expertise in
contract negotiation and management. The manager will negotiate, draft, and oversee contracts with network operators, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders, ensuring commercial terms are favourable and obligations are fulfilled throughout the project lifecycle. The position covers the EMEA region, acting as the primary contact for all contractual and connection-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead contract negotiations with electricity, gas, and heat network operators, as well as suppliers and clients, securing optimal terms for connection projects
- across the EMEA region.
- Draft, review, and manage contracts for all stages of the connection process, guaranteeing compliance with legal, commercial, and technical standards.
- Monitor contractual obligations, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring all parties adhere to agreed terms and resolving disputes or ambiguities as they arise.
- Maintain robust contract records, documentation, and risk management sytems for all energy connection projects.
- Coordinate and communicate with legal teams and senior management to align contract terms with organisational objectives and risk appetite.
- Take ownership of the complete application and delivery process for energy connections—including electricity, gas, and heat—across the EMEA region, from feasibility assessment through commissioning and final handover.
- Conduct thorough assessments of network capacity and technical feasibility for proposed connections, working with network operators to identify solutions and ensure reliable integration.
- Oversee project budgets and milestones, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery and contract compliance.
- Provide regular updates and reports on contractual status, project progress, and risks to management and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement in connection and contract management processes, seeking efficiencies and enhanced client satisfaction.
- Ensure all activities are compliant with health, safety, and environmental standards relevant to energy network connections and contract management in the EMEA region.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Degree in Engineering, Law, Business, or a relevant field; advanced qualifications advantageous.
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in contract negotiation and management within the energy sector, ideally across the EMEA region.
- Strong understanding of legislation, codes, and regulatory frameworks governing energy networks and commercial agreements.
- Experience working with network operators, clients, and legal teams to deliver complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Prior experience with a utility, transmission grid operator, or large-scale construction company is highly advantageous.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach to contract and project management
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Additional Information:
- Travel may be required within the EMEA region to visit project sites and attend stakeholder meetings
