Your Mission
Making a good first impression is key when you meet someone new.At BlaBlaCar, this is the job of the Discover squad.
Whether it’s the home page or specialized landing pages, the mission of the squad is to gather all the trips available on BlaBlaCar (carpool, bus and soon trains), enrich them with useful information for the users and render these pages in the blink of an eye (think blazing fast response and web performance).
As a Confirmed Backend Engineer, your role will be to contribute to the platform we use to deliver scalable and reliable landing pages.
In addition, you will leverage your technical leadership skills by being the engineering point of contact on impactful projects. You will drive technical discoveries, help align on technical architecture, and ensure the good progress of the delivery until the rollout.
You will be reporting to Charlotte, Engineering Manager, and working with a team of 3 Frontend Engineers, 3 Backend Engineers and 1 Product Manager.
Your responsibilities
• Participate in the design, development and maintenance of our Java microservices that serve landing pages on the BlaBlaCar platform
• Contribute in all phases of a project, meaning: discovery, development, test strategy, QA, deployment to production, without forgetting observability and support
• Collaborate with product and design teams to find the most relevant features for our members
• Interact with people with different roles and backgrounds, and sharing your technical expertise with a mix of technical, product and business experts
Your qualifications
• You have 3+ years of experience from companies with a strong engineering culture, within a growth context
• You are fluent in Java and know frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JUnit, and Mockito
• You have hands-on experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes , and monitoring solutions (Datadog)
• You know what service-oriented architecture looks like, and you can determine when to apply a given architectural pattern
• You have good communication skills, you’re humble and you're a team player
• Full working proficiency in English
• Fit with our BlaBla Principles
• Nice to have: some knowledge or prior experience with Ruby on rails
