From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve.  Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.

As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research - designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.

The role

G-Research is going through an exciting period of growth and transforming the way we run and build platforms. As part of our transformation, we are looking for a highly skilled engineer to join our expanding Research and Core Compute Platform Management team.

You will design automation, from pipelines to Kubernetes controllers and custom CLIs, to ensure the compute farm capacity is optimal. You will ensure that the compute farm scales rapidly as we onboard new hardware and new architectures.

The compute farm is key to our business, and you will work closely with research engineering and researchers in this role.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing lifecycle and monitoring of Core Compute and Research HPC platforms

  • Developing automation and operators to build and extend our Kubernetes compute platform

  • Working with platform and development teams to help define standards, best practices and onboard new technologies onto the platform

  • On-call responsibilities for the most critical parts of our Kubernetes infrastructure

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a skilled engineer with technical experience of managing high performance, scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with Linux internals

  • Kubernetes experience

  • Knowledge of CI/CD principles

  • Development skills in at least one of Python or Go

  • Experience managing and debugging large productions systems

  • A reliability engineering mindset

Why should you apply?
  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus

  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar

  • 30 days’ annual leave

  • 9% company pension contributions

  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance

  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance

  • Cycle-to-work scheme

  • Monthly company events

G-Research is committed to cultivating and preserving an inclusive work environment. We are an ideas-driven business and we place great value on diversity of experience and opinions.

We want to ensure that applicants receive a recruitment experience that enables them to perform at their best. If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation please let us know in the relevant section
