We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Hardware/ Components/ Jewellery Designer with expertise in CAD software to design and develop metal components such as buckles, clasps, jewellery details and other hardware for bags and accessories. The ideal candidate will have experience working with hardware design in the fashion or accessory industry, with a strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design trends. You will collaborate with our product design and engineering teams to ensure the hardware components are not only functional but also aesthetically aligned with our brand's vision.


This role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.


Duties and Responsibilities:


· CAD Design & Development: Ensure components are designed and developed on Solidworks, translated into plastic proto, and communicated to suppliers and production team effectively

 

· Material Selection & Specifications: Collaborate with the materials team to identify suitable metals (e.g., brass, stainless steel, aluminium) and finishes (e.g., polished, matte, antique) for hardware components.


· Prototype & Testing: Work closely with prototyping teams to build samples and prototypes of hardware components. Oversee testing for functionality, durability, and aesthetic quality, providing adjustments to designs as needed.


· Collaboration & Communication: Able to work independently and Coordinate with the product design team, manufacturers, and external vendors to ensure that hardware designs are produced efficiently and meet design specifications. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers.


· Quality Control: Ensure that hardware components meet the quality standards for both design and production. Monitor the manufacturing process to address any issues that arise.


· Trend Analysis & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor products, and new technologies in hardware design for fashion accessories. Propose innovative solutions that enhance both the aesthetic and functional value of the product.


Skills and Experience Required:


- Either a recognised Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering qualification or significant experience gained in a similar or related role. Proficiency in CAD software SolidWorks is essential.


- Significant experience in hardware design, preferably in the fashion or accessories industry, experience with leather goods or bags is advantageous.


- Understanding of manufacturing processes, including casting, stamping, and injection molding as well as knowledge of various metals and finishes, including their properties, benefits, and applications.


- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot design challenges and develop creative solutions.


- Experience working with manufacturers in Asia or other global markets.


- Knowledge of product lifecycle management (PLM) tools is preferred.
