The Compliance Technologist ensures all products meet food safety and legal standards, collaborating with quality, production, and warehouse teams. Responsibilities include monitoring quality controls, drafting compliance policies, conducting audits, and supporting training. The role also involves liaising with suppliers and assisting in continuous quality improvement.
About the Opportunity
This role is key in ensuring that all products leaving our packing site are compliant with all food safety, legal, customer requirements through adherence to procedures. This position requires close collaboration with our quality, production and warehouse supervisors and managers to maintain a continuous flow of information and support the development and documentation of quality, environmental, and other management procedures.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and verify in-process controls to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
- Provide support in drafting, modifying, and implementing company policies and procedures ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and certification requirements (e.g., BRC, HACCP, GMP).
- Conduct product traceability and recall tests, ensuring robust systems are maintained.
- Lead investigations into non-conformances and drive corrective and preventative actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and third-party contractors to maintain high-quality standards.
- Assist with managing the internal audit schedule and participate in the schedule by conducting periodic internal audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
- Support site preparation for internal, customer, and third-party audits and fully support during audits and in closing any non-conformances.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in operational quality processes.
- Assist in identifying training requirements for the business to ensure compliance to required standards.
- Liaise with Technical, Sales and Procurement teams as required.
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
Candidate Profile
- Evidence of extensive experience working in a comparable role, preferably within the soft fruit industry
- Strong appreciation of our business needs and resourcefulness in coming up with solutions to their challenges
- Ability to relate to key client personnel in a professional and credible fashion.
- Well-developed personal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with a wide range of employees.
- Ability to work as part of a team with colleagues across professional, operational and cultural boundaries.
- Proactive approach
- Able to use and interpret data to make decisions and recommend improvements
- Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to handle a number of tasks at once and meeting deadlines as required.
- Good IT skills including experience of Word and Excel
