Flint Global, and the Competition, Regulation and Economics (CR&E) Team

Are you a creative thinker who wants to apply the core rules of economics and regulation to challenging and interesting problems? Flint Global is looking for new people at a range of seniorities in our Competition, Regulation and Economics practice (CR&E). We are open for applications from candidates with anywhere between 1 and 10 years work experience for consultant, senior consultant, manager or associate director roles. We may also consider strong candidates without significant work experience who have recently completed a Masters degree or higher in a relevant discipline.

We are looking for people with a wide range of experience, from running economic analysis projects to undertaking policy work through an economic lens. This might include work in a regulator, competition authority, in government, at an economic consulting firm, or elsewhere.

CR&E team members use their experience of economics, regulation, competition policy and broader public policy to help our clients manage their most pressing and strategically important problems. We understand the importance of the economic context – but we also understand that that is usually only part of the ‘answer’ – we provide strategic advice that considers all angles.

Our work includes helping clients with:

  • major transactions
  • regulatory or competition investigations
  • regulatory policy and legislation e.g. in respect of new infrastructure build
  • regulatory engagement strategy
  • strategic and organisational decisions
  • public policy issues where the economics matters
  • regulatory finance

Flint and CR&E in particular has significantly grown in recent years and is looking to expand further over the coming 2-3 years, having recently secured external investment. This makes it a great time to join, with ample opportunity for personal growth and progression for self-starters with an entrepreneurial attitude.

The role will be based in London. We increasingly serve clients in the EU, MENA and APAC – and will be expanding further. UK experience is not essential and we actively welcome candidates with experience in these other jurisdictions. Overseas secondment opportunities are a possibility.

The team is committed to hiring people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Criteria

We are looking for people with:

  • Work experience in economics, regulation, competition policy or wider public policy
  • Economics background, or comfort and familiarity with economic thinking
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think strategically and see the bigger picture
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex or technical substance to non-specialists
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good nature
  • An ability to understand both the public and private sector perspectives

We encourage candidates to apply even if they do not meet every one of the above criteria.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with annual review
  • Generous discretionary bonus
  • Enhanced family friendly policy
  • 25 days holiday (+ bank holidays), and extra leave around Christmas
  • Health insurance, life insurance and Income Protection Scheme
  • Pension contributions
  • Training and development
  • Staff social events
  • Cycle to work scheme

How to apply

To be successful, please submit the following:

  • Your CV
  • A one-page statement (maximum 400 words) setting out how your experience and skills qualify you for this role and its requirements.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the role will close once filled.

*

Due to a very high level of interest, we will be closing applications at 23:59 on Friday 16 January as we had received a very strong pool of candidates.
