Salary – Ranging from £50,000 to £56,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The Corporate Governance division comprises the following functions:

  • Central Secretariat (incorporating the Conflict of Interests (COI) Policy Team and Senior Managers Regime (SMR) Support Function)

  • Consumer Panel Secretariat

  • Decision-Making Committees Secretariat (DMCS)

  • Practitioner Panels Secretariat

The Central Secretariat sits at the heart of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR). The team works with the FCA and PSR Boards and senior executive committees of the FCA. It also owns the organisational COI policies for staff and non-executive directors and supports the SMR function. 

What will you be doing?

  • Providing governance expertise to one or more of the FCA’s senior executive committees and/or the FCA and PSR Boards and committees, assisting with agenda and meeting planning, minute-taking and follow up work 

  • Working with key stakeholders, including the Chairs and committee members, to ensure that committees operate effectively and efficiently

  • Reviewing and updating procedures to ensure that they are in line with governance best practice 

  • Leading governance projects

  • Notifying changes to Companies House records

  • Keeping up to date with, and providing advice on, governance issues

Minimum

  • Strong formal minute-taking skills and experience at senior executive and Board level

  • Governance and/or company secretarial experience, including supporting boards and senior decision-making committees

  • Demonstrable experience of excellent stakeholder management at a senior level

Essential

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment with a strong ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines

  • Previous experience working in a role that required use of judgement to make decisions autonomously, knowing when to escalate

  • Sound attention to detail – can demonstrate taking pride in work and ensuring it is of the highest standard

  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and negotiation skills 

  • Discretion and the ability to gain others' trust

  • Ability to ensure compliance with requirements to maintain and protect information appropriately

  • An ability to respond positively to change, adopting a flexible approach to new ideas, assignments and approaches

  • Project management skills
