Description

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent, and treat diseases. Diseases like cancer, dementia, diabetes, and heart disease affect the lives of many people in our communities. Our goal is to create a world-leading resource for health research, to improve our understanding and spot the patterns of how and why common diseases start, so treatments can begin sooner and be more effective.

The ambition of Our Future Health differs from other large UK population cohorts in terms of scale, and the aim to recruit much higher numbers of participants from groups who are not well represented in research i.e. ethnic minorities, younger people and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Our Community Engagement Manager will be instrumental in bridging the gap between our organisation and underrepresented communities. You will develop strong relationships and partnerships with community-based organisations, charities, and those who are active within their community; enhancing our ability to deliver inclusive and impactful recruitment and engagement programmes.

As our Community Engagement Manager - Community Integration, you will be responsible for:

Community integration

  • Identify, establish and manage partnerships with community-based organisations, charities, and grassroots organisations that will accelerate our diversity work
  • Facilitate regular communication and collaboration between our organisation and community partners and foster senior relationships
  • Develop and deliver community integration projects (for example, a community champions programme)
  • Work with the Community Engagement team to explore how partnerships can support ongoing pilots and initiatives

Partnership development

  • Drive the agenda for community partnerships forward internally and externally
  • Negotiate and formalise partnership agreements to ensure mutual benefits, and ensure contractual activities are delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develop success criteria and metrics to ensure partnerships are effectively accelerating our diversity work

Strategic partnerships

  • Work with our internal Strategic Partnerships team to identity opportunities with existing partners that will support our diversity work and long-term goals
  • Work together to share relevant partnership learnings and insights

Project management and reporting

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders and senior management where necessary

Advocacy and outreach:

  • Advocate for the needs and interests of underrepresented communities within the organisation
  • Represent the organisation at community events and forums
  • Share insights and learnings across the organisation from your engagement with communities to help improve programme design

Team support:

  • Work collaboratively with the Community Engagement management team to continuously improve how the team works together and operates
Requirements
  • Experience identifying and successfully pursuing partnership opportunities
  • Experience with negotiating, establishing and managing successful partnerships
  • Experience working with and delivering projects for diverse communities
  • Be collaborative and be able to build effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders at all levels and from all backgrounds
  • Have a dynamic, flexible approach, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be someone who works well in a busy, changing environment with tight deadlines and takes pride in the little touches that make for strong relationships and excellent events
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messaging clearly and in a way that is meaningful for different groups of people

Let's prevent disease together.

You may work remotely from anywhere within the UK with quarterly travel to London for team days.

Closing date for applications : 21st August.
