Communications Coordinator

Intro

We have a great opportunity for a Communications Coordinator to join our External Communications team, within Corporate Affairs, on a permanent basis in either our London or Darlington office (hybrid based).

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

The role

Within this role, you’ll plan and create high-quality, multi-channel content that supports with the effective communication of topical and varied subjects for a diverse range of audiences.

You will enhance Railpen’s media (PR and events) and brand engagement through careful co-ordination with subject-matter experts, helping us to measurably deliver on our strategic goals.

This is a brand new role, encompassing both PR and brand delivery activity, across a broad range of channels.

The person

Having worked in a similar role, your transferable skills include creating, proofreading and publishing content. You’re accustomed to managing and scheduling a calendar of external communications activity and have experience with content management systems and social media tools.

Familiar with a broad range of channels, your experience of delivering communications will be across press activity and social media, web content, and reporting (to name but a few). You’re able to translate complex information into clear and accessible communications for a broad audience and have previously coordinated collaborative relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Above all, you’ll relish the opportunity to champion  Railpen and the purpose that drives us. You’ll be passionate about communications and enjoy being part of an energetic and dedicated team. You’ll appreciate the importance of detail, accuracy and version control and, while prior experience in pensions or financial services isn’t essential, an appreciation of working within a regulated environment would be preferred.

We’ll be looking for you to work effectively as part of a team, while also taking ownership of your own workload. Effective at prioritising, you are calm, pragmatic and solutions-focused and take pride in turning around high quality communications.
