About The Role

You will join IMU at an important point in its growth, reporting to the Director of Corporate Development and working closely with the leadership, scientific and commercial teams to shape and deliver our brand, communications and marketing strategy.

You will own the work from setting priorities and planning activity through to hands-on delivery, supported by our existing agency and content support. Your remit will span internal communications and engagement with pharma and biotech, the AI community, investors and the broader public.

This is an opportunity to help people understand IMU’s capabilities, what we are doing and why it matters. We are looking for someone who can set a clear direction, translate complex science into engaging communications and take practical responsibility for getting our story out into the world.

Core Responsibilities

• Set and deliver a coordinated brand, communications and marketing strategy across IMU’s platform, data, analytics and AI, and clinical-development capabilities.

• Define priority audiences, messages, channels and measures of success, translating these into a practical delivery plan.

• Work with scientific and commercial colleagues to turn IMU’s capabilities, products and progress into clear, accurate stories and materials tailored to each audience.

• Own the website, LinkedIn and other relevant channels, maintaining an editorial calendar spanning company news, blog posts, case studies, podcasts, video and other multimedia content.

• Manage the existing PR agency, copywriters and content support, setting briefs and coordinating delivery, quality, scientific review and timing.

• Plan and deliver IMU’s presence at conferences and develop events such as hackathons and roundtables to build relationships and engage relevant communities.

• Develop internal communications that keep colleagues informed about IMU’s priorities and progress.

• Work with leadership and business-development colleagues on investor communications and commercial marketing materials.

• Track audience engagement and the contribution of activity to awareness, relationships and commercial opportunities, using these insights to improve the programme.

Qualification Requirements

• Relevant experience in marketing and communications in life sciences or biotech, gained in-house or through an agency.

• Demonstrated experience taking communications or marketing activity from planning through to delivery.

• A track record of communicating scientific or technical subjects to different audiences.

Technical Must-Haves (Essential Skills)

• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt messages across audiences and formats.

• Scientific fluency sufficient to understand IMU’s work across immunology, data and AI and communicate it accurately.

• Experience managing websites, social channels and content programmes.

• Ability to brief and manage external agencies, copywriters or freelancers.

• Strong project management skills, including coordinating contributors, reviews and deadlines.

• Ability to use audience and channel performance data to assess what is working and improve activity.

Nice-to-Haves (Desirable Skills)

• Experience coordinating PR activity and working with media agencies.

• Experience planning conferences, roundtables, hackathons or other community events.

• Experience developing podcasts, video or other multimedia content.

• Experience with internal or investor communications.

• Familiarity with immunology, precision medicine, biological data or AI communities.

Key Competencies

• Ownership: Takes responsibility from initial brief through to delivery and follow-up.

• Editorial judgement: Balances engaging communication with scientific accuracy and appropriate tone.

• Strategic thinking: Connects individual activities to clear audiences and organisational priorities.

• Collaboration: Works confidently with scientists, commercial colleagues, senior leaders and external partners.

• Curiosity and creativity: Finds useful ways to explain complex work and engage different communities.

• Adaptability: Balances competing priorities and adjusts plans as IMU’s work evolves.
