We are seeking an experienced Enterprise / Domain Architect to provide dedicated architecture leadership across a number of strategic transformation programmes.

The successful candidate will work as key members of programme teams, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to define target architectures, support technology selection, guide implementation approaches, and ensure solutions align with wider enterprise strategy.

This role is initially expected to support programme delivery through key architecture phases, including discovery, design, procurement, selection, and implementation.

This position is hybrid with occasional travel required to programme locations as needed. The role requires a collaborative approach, balancing strategic direction with hands-on architecture delivery.

Lead architecture activity for a major commercial transformation programme, supporting the evolution of commercial capabilities across areas such as product, pricing, range, assortment, forecasting, and replenishment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the architecture lead within a core programme team consisting of programme leadership, business leads, analysts, product, and engineering representatives.
  • Define current-state (“as-is”) and target-state (“to-be”) architecture.
  • Shape the technology strategy and roadmap required to deliver future commercial capabilities.
  • Support discovery, market engagement, procurement, and technology selection activities.
  • Define technical assessment criteria and support RFP/RFI processes.
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and provide technology recommendations.
  • Lead architectural decisions to simplify legacy platforms and enable modernisation.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand commercial priorities, challenges, and future needs.
  • Establish architecture governance and ensure effective decision-making.
  • Support creation and refinement of non-functional requirements.

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience architecting commercial transformation programmes.
  • Strong retail or adjacent industry experience.
  • Experience across commercial domains including:
    • Product
    • Pricing
    • Range and assortment
    • Forecasting
    • Replenishment
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of commercial technology ecosystems and vendors.

RequirementsRequired Skills & Experience
  • Enterprise Architecture or Domain Architecture experience.
  • Strong understanding of retail business capabilities and technology landscapes.
  • Experience working across complex transformation programmes.
  • Experience supporting procurement and technology selection processes:
    • RFI
    • RFP
    • Technical assessments
    • Vendor evaluations
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to challenge vendors and drive informed decisions.
  • Comfortable working at both strategic and detailed technical levels.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and delivery-focused approach.

Engagement Details
  • Contract engagement initially expected to support strategic transformation delivery.
  • Must go into London office 1-2 days a week.
  • Initial 6 month contract, sits outside IR35.
