At Citymapper (a Via company), we’re on a mission to help make complex cities more accessible to everyday users. Our application transports millions of people in hundreds of cities around the world by giving them access to the most current and sophisticated transportation options available.

As a Commercial Strategy Principal at Citymapper, you will drive the commercial and operational decisions that shape how the business grows globally. Balancing hands-on, day-to-day execution with long-term planning, you’ll translate priorities into measurable results and drive initiatives that ensure commercial excellence while enabling Citymapper to scale effectively. You’ll work on high-impact projects across product, engineering, and commercial teams, working alongside a collaborative, creative team, and ultimately strengthen the platform that millions rely on every day to navigate cities.

What You'll Do:

  • Set and drive commercial strategy, translating company and product priorities into clear, executable operational plans.
  • Be an externally facing partner to Via and Citymapper stakeholders, building trust, strengthening relationships, and ensuring the platform delivers real value.
  • Set ambitious growth and performance goals, then work diligently with teams to exceed them.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, Commercial and Expansion teams to shape tools, systems, and processes that enable excellence at scale.
  • Drive prioritisation and trade-offs, ensuring teams focus on the work that delivers the greatest business and customer impact.
  • Act as a hands-on leader, stepping in to unblock teams, resolve issues, and push commercial initiatives forward.

Who You Are:

  • You have 7+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, or commercial roles within fast-moving, complex environments
  • You are commercially and operationally minded, able to make smart trade-offs and prioritise  work that drives real impact.
  • You’re hands-on and execution-focused, diving into the details to get things done
  • You’re a strong influencer and communicator, with high emotional intelligence and the ability to align diverse stakeholders
  • You are structured, organised, and methodical, with a passion for improving processes and systems
  • You care deeply about cities, public transport, and building products that millions rely on every day

What We Offer:

  • Becoming part of a company that was awarded for its commitment to social good
  • Competitive compensation including equity
  • A hybrid working model and a spacious office near Chancery Lane, where you can enjoy weekly team lunches
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid parental leave, and health scheme offered through AXA
  • Partnership with YellowNest, a salary exchange benefit that helps reduce childcare fees for working parents
  • Cycle to Work Scheme - multiple options via Green Commute Initiative (GCI)

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?
