Who we are and why we exist

At Liberis – merchants matter most! We’ve been on a mission to provide small and medium businesses (SMEs) with accessible and responsive finance since 2007. SMEs account for most businesses worldwide and are critical contributors to job creation and global economic development. They represent about 90% of businesses and more than 50% of employment worldwide. Despite this, more than three quarters (77%) of SME businesses last year were unable to secure the traditional bank financing they desperately needed to grow and thrive. This has created a $5 trillion funding gap for SMEs globally.

That’s where Liberis steps in! To best help small businesses, Liberis has built the leading global embedded finance platform. Through this, Liberis provides partners with the technology and financial solutions necessary to offer personalised and accessible funding to their small business customers.

To date with ~20 global strategic partners and direct reach to more than 1 million small businesses, Liberis has provided $1 bn of funding in over 50,000 transactions, enabling more than 100,000 jobs to be created and saved. We are making a genuine difference to your local pub, hairdresser and online retailer!

We are in a very exciting period of growth, in the UK and internationally, with teams based in London, Nottingham, Stockholm, Atlanta, Munich and remotely. We are looking for talented and ambitious individuals to help us reshape business finance. How we work is as important to us as what we do – exemplified by our behaviours:

#1 Merchants matter most – our success is tied to our merchants' success

#2 Act like time is running out – the fastest company in a growing market will win

#3 Own every outcome – the hardest problems we face are yet to be solved

#4 Communicate directly – we don’t have time to beat around the bush

#5 Prove it - every feature we build, decision we make and action we take, matters

#6 Empathy always - Liberis wins when every employee thrives

If our mission and behaviours resonate – get in touch!

What we are looking for in a nutshell

We are looking for a Commercial Strategy Manager to join our Growth Team and drive profitable growth for our business through wide-ranging commercial optimisation.

The Growth team is a central team working closely with Liberis’ General Manager and Executive team to guide commercial decisions. This role will be heavily involved across the spectrum of commercial strategy & operations including target-setting, pricing strategy and optimisation, targeting and sales funnel optimisation, and business casing for new products, partners and ventures.

What you’ll be doing

  • On-going commercial optimisation: You will work identifying, driving, and measuring growth and profitability initiatives (e.g., improving our pricing, tweaks to our sales process, new pricing frameworks, new product features).
  • Pricing strategy & operations: You will help scale and optimise our pricing strategy and frameworks, working with engineering teams to devise pricing algorithms, new product pricing strategy, and price sensitivity test & learn projects.
  • Real time monitoring and reporting of commercial performance: You will define the metrics and leading indicators of our commercial business performance. You will use this to create frameworks and develop insights into revenue and margin performance trends, in real time, across our different channels (geographies, partners, products).
  • GTM business Case development: You will own the creation and challenge of new business cases, including new products and new geographies.
  • Strategic and financial planning: You will partner with leaders across the business to build robust forecasts/models and work closely with central FP&A team to design, maintain & evolve financial models by partner, geography, and product type. You will be a key driver our financial planning processes (e.g., Monthly Reviews, Forecasts, Annual
    Budget, and Long-Range Plan).
  • Ensuring cross functional alignment: You will act as a key bridge between bridge between the Finance, Commercial, and Strategy teams.

What you’ll need to be successful

The skills you will need:

  • Strong quantitative and technical skills including complex financial modelling and data analysis. The ability to use tools such as SQL / Python, or a willingness to learn, is a must.
  • You can navigate around a P&L. You are financially literate and understand what it means to set financial budgets and plans.
  • You can operate at all levels: You are able both to have a conversation with our CEO about new product strategy, and with our frontline teams about customer journey optimisation.

The behaviours you will need:

  • You're accountable. You want to own the outcome and positively shape our most important metrics. You have a track record of optimising revenue streams, leading projects, and hitting goal in a team environment.
  • You’re relentless and humble. You roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes to make things successful. No job is beneath you. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team.
  • Data-driven mindset. You let data win arguments. You have strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and insights.
  • You solve problems from first principles. You’re excited to solve problems in innovative ways, and you resist “this is how it’s always been done” thinking. You use this to craft exciting strategies.
  • You love a bit of chaos. You can work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.

Preferable but not required:

  • Experience working with, and modelling, financial products.

Who you’ll be working with

You will report directly to Head of Growth and act as a key bridge between the Finance, Commercial, and Strategy teams.

Liberis is a global team of 200+ people and you’ll probably interact with most of them in this role!

What happens next?

Think this sounds like the right next move for you? Or if you’re not completely confident that you fit our exact criteria, apply anyway and we can arrange a call to see if the role is fit for you. Humility is a wonderful thing, and we are interested in hearing about what you can add to Liberis!
