Join us as a Commercial Strategy Manager

  • This strategic role will see you driving performance within our Everyday Banking (EDB) business through the development of business and product strategy
  • You’ll be leading strategic and commercial activity that cuts across the EDB business and working with key stakeholders to ensure EDB delivers on its financial plans
  • With significant senior stakeholder exposure, you’ll be providing influence to develop strategies with a strong commercial foundation and drive relentless improvement across the business
  • We're offering this role for a period of 12 months
What you'll do

As a Commercial Strategy Manager, you’ll be planning, influencing, coordinating and managing the delivery of strategic plans. With a focus on delivering strong commercial performance, you’ll be identifying opportunities to add value and improve effectiveness through leveraging relationships across the business and identifying cross cutting commercial opportunities to help more of our customers.

Through the course of your work, you’ll be:

  • Owning the development and delivery of elements of the EDB product strategy, ensuring alignment with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and commercial objectives
  • Developing and driving the EDB commercial plan to deliver sustainable returns, growth in customer numbers as well as good customer outcomes
  • Supporting the Product Strategy and Simplification Lead and working with customer goal lead teams, to facilitate delivery of the EDB commercial strategy and priorities
  • Leading complex strategic initiatives from ideation through to implementation, working closely with proposition, technology, finance, risk, and change teams
  • Crafting and presenting compelling strategic narratives to senior leadership forums, including ExCo audiences
  • Building and maintaining strong senior stakeholder relationships across Retail Banking and enabling functions, influencing without authority where needed
  • Delivering content and executing governance around agreeing commercial priorities and decision making across the customer business area’s annual, quarterly and monthly cycle
  • Leveraging data insights to drive commercial opportunities to EDB
The skills you'll need

To join us in this role, you’ll demonstrate strong strategic, commercial and financial acumen. You’ll be a strategic thinker with the ability to simplify complex and conflicting commercial priorities, making sure that these are effectively managed and communicated.

You’ll also bring:

  • Experience in strategy or commercially focused analytical roles, ideally within consultancy, banking, or financial services
  • A comprehensive understanding and expertise in the consumer financial services sector
  • A solid understanding of key income drivers, balance sheet mechanics, and how products deliver financial performance
  • Proven experience leading strategy or product initiatives end to end, from problem definition through to delivery and benefits realisation
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and influence senior stakeholders
  • Evidence of operational and financial planning
  • The ability to deliver executional excellence in an environment of ambiguity and change
