Alfa is seeking a Senior Commercial Counsel with extensive contract negotiation experience within the financial technology sector to join our global Commercial team. You will be responsible for providing general transactional support on customer, supplier and partner contracts and other various legal matters that support internal operations. The position involves providing guidance on a broad range of contracting matters with technical and regulatory components (e.g. OCC, FDIC, CFPB, plus EBA and equivalents).
Key responsibilities:
● Develops functional plans for managing legal matters, including activities to be performed in-house or through third-party relationships to best manage the company’s legal activities and minimise risk for the business
● Negotiating client, supplier and partnership agreements
● Collaborate with our wider Commercial Lawyer populations to assist with the review and maintenance of contract templates and contractual processes
● Negotiation and completion of agreements, including confidential disclosures, cloud services agreements/SaaS engagements, material transfer, Software licensing agreements and other intellectual property-related matters
● Direct ownership of set client negotiations with the ability to proactively provide internal progress reports on a weekly basis.
● Work closely with the commercial and sales teams and provide project leads with any legal or commercial assistance required
What you will bring to the team:
● Extensive contract negotiation experience in a client facing role with the ability to manage evolving negotiations in real time.
● Proven experience working within the regulated field of financial technology
● Experience of creating/reviewing/amending commercial contracts with strong contract drafting and analytical skills
● 10 years + PQE qualified in the UK (EU qualified with the ability to practise in the UK considered)
