Commercial Insight Assistant - Intern / Placement (12 Month FTC)

Overview of job
This 12-month placement offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced Commercial Insight team, supporting the delivery of audience insight, research, and data-led storytelling that drives commercial decision-making.
You’ll work across a variety of projects, gaining exposure to industry-leading tools, research methodologies, and real business challenges. From day one, you’ll contribute to meaningful work that helps our commercial teams better understand audiences and unlock value for clients.
This role is ideal for someone currently in higher education looking for a placement year, or someone seeking a long-term internship in insight, research, or data and is commercially curious, data-comfortable, and motivated to understand and explain human behaviour through insight.

Measures of success –
In the first few months, you would will
Build a strong understanding of Global’s audiences, products, and insight tools
Develop confidence working with data and interpreting results
Support the delivery of research projects from setup through to analysis
Contribute to insight outputs used by commercial teams
Build strong relationships within the insight team and wider business
Responsibilities of the role
As a Commercial Insight Assistant at Global, You will:
Research & Survey Delivery
Support the scripting and programming of consumer research surveys (e.g. Global’s consumer panel - Work.Shop.Play on Toluna)
Assist in the setup, management, and quality control of research projects, ensuring best practice is followed
Support Global’s consumer tracker (Audience Insider), contributing to ongoing research delivery
Data Analysis & Insight Generation
Create and manipulate Excel data tables to support analysis
Analyse survey data and audience datasets to identify patterns, trends, and key findings
Work with industry and proprietary tools (e.g. TGI , Ad Intel and internal data sources) to extract insight
Translate data into clear, commercially relevant insights that support decision-making
Insight & Storytelling
Support the creation of insight dashboards (e.g. Datatile)
Build presentations and visual outputs that bring data to life
Contribute to clear, engaging insight narratives for internal stakeholders
Team & Project Support
Provide day-to-day support to the Commercial Insight team across multiple projects
Develop knowledge of Global’s proprietary research systems and tools
Maintain high standards of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail in all outputs

What you will need
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:
Analytical Skills: Comfortable working with data and able to spot patterns and trends
Insight Skills: Ability to draw insight from multiple data sources and connect findings together
Data Confidence: Basic experience handling data, with strong attention to detail
Organisation: Strong time management and ability to support multiple projects
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Communication: Strong grammar and able to clearly explain findings and contribute to insight storytelling

Interest in a career in research, data, or insight
Educational background or coursework in business, marketing, market research, consumer behaviour, statistics, economics, communications, or data analytics
Experience working with large or complex datasets
