The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Commercial (Finance) Controller for UK, Ireland and Nordics area (based at our office in Maidenhead, Berkshire) to join Abbott’s Infectious Disease – Rapid Diagnostics business.

As a Commercial Controller North Europe, you will execute a wide range of financial planning and decision support responsibilities, including short and long-range planning and execution of strategic initiatives in the region.

The role is based in our Maidenhead office, but occasional travelling (20%) is anticipated across the region.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for the full range of finance responsibilities in the region (e.g., general accounting in conjunction with Global Shared Services, financial planning, financial reporting, financial analysis, cost accounting, entity reporting, internal control, entity planning, inventory control, and disbursements)
  • Finance partnering with the Region General Manager to support sound business decisions
  • Ensuring that the financial planning process provides efficient and effective decision support tools for senior management
  • Manage the month-end close process in compliance with Division and Corporate reporting requirements, in conjunction with Global Shared Services
  • Manage a liaison relationship with marketing, sales and operations to ensure interests are represented and a mutual understanding is achieved
  • Perform the forecasting, actuals reporting, and analysis function for: capital and project expenses, income statement, balance sheet, strategic spending analysis, standard cost development, and expense variances.

Required qualifications/Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in accounting or finance, or a recognised professional accounting qualification
  • Previous experience, including financial reporting, cost accounting, internal controls and procedures, and project management.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills in order to influence, counsel, and support Senior Division management
  • Provide guidance to operating management and make recommendations
