Role: Commercial Data Analyst

Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week Clapham Junction

This is a genuine opportunity to work across the full breadth of a fast-moving consumer business - from gym trading performance and location strategy through to product and customer behaviour - and to produce analysis that directly shapes how The Gym Group grows. If you have around two years of analytics experience and you are ready to take on more ownership, work with senior stakeholders and build your commercial instincts, this role has a lot to offer.

Who we are

We're not like any other gym company; we are The Gym Group, a place where you can #BeYouWithUs and perform to your absolute best. We are successful; by membership we're the 2nd largest gym business in the UK and the 4th largest in Europe. We hire people with real passion, positivity and enthusiasm which motivates and inspire those around them. We actively invest in our employees; it's so important to us that our people can thrive in our environment and can make the most of the flexibility and support we offer to all of our teams.

What you'll be doing

  • Analysing trading performance across our gym estate and surfacing insights that help the business act quickly and confidently

  • Supporting member acquisition and retention analysis, helping the business understand what drives membership growth and how to reduce churn

  • Working with our Property team to analyse location performance and inform decisions about where we open and invest

  • Evaluating product performance and member behaviour to help the Product team improve the experience we offer

  • Building dashboards and reports that give stakeholders a clear view of performance in their area

  • Answering ad hoc business questions end to end - from scoping the brief through to presenting findings

  • Communicating insights clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues in a way that leads to action

What we're looking for

  • Around 2 years of experience in a data analytics role, ideally in a commercial environment

  • Strong, independent SQL skills - you should be comfortable writing and troubleshooting queries without support

  • Confidence using Excel for data analysis and manipulation

  • A proven ability to communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience building reports, dashboards or data visualisations that support decision making

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, curious approach to problem solving

Our commitment to inclusion

At The Gym Group, we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome, valued and able to be themselves. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. If you are excited by this role but do not meet every requirement listed, we would still encourage you to apply - we care about potential and attitude as much as experience.
