This outstanding opportunity at Lonza as a Senior Legal Counsel for Commercial Contracts offers an exceptionally rewarding role based in Slough, UK. You will play a pivotal part in supporting our global mammalian facilities and making a significant impact on our business and clients. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the flawless execution of legal agreements and providing world-class legal support.

Please note this is a 12-month FTC for maternity cover!

Key responsibilities:

  • Quickly establish positive relationships within the legal team (both UK and global) and with key contacts in various global departments, including Sales/BD and PM.

  • Develop a detailed knowledge of Lonza and its business to support the global BU.

  • Participate in calls, meetings, and negotiations, leading on all legal matters as appropriate.

  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on various contracts and agreements, including development, manufacturing, collaboration, joint venture, consultancy, and confidentiality agreements.

  • Manage workload and sometimes conflicting business priorities with relevant collaborators.

  • Collaborate and work with collaborators at all levels across the business, both in the UK and globally.

  • Support and guide less senior members of the team.

  • Contribute to the review, updating, and improvement of standard form contracts and templates (global and UK).

  • Assist with the review and approval of marketing and promotional materials.

Key requirements:

  • Extensive post-qualified experience with a specialisation in commercial contracts.

  • Knowledge of relevant statutory, regulatory, and common law applicable to the field of corporate law.

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of work and advice.

  • In-house legal experience (pharmaceutical environment is desirable).

  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of collaborators across the business and with customers worldwide.

  • Ability to deliver legal advice to non-lawyers in a common-sense manner.

  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate high-value agreements for Lonza.

  • Maintain a sense of humour when faced with tight deadlines and demanding clients.
