The Position

Be part of the Roche Commercial Contracts team and bring your legal and commercial expertise in commercial contracts and creating continuous efficiencies to the contracts management space, together with automation and AI to create a state-of-the-art Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) governance for Roche.

Reporting to the Commercial Contracts Manager (CCM), you will engage across the organisation (Sales, Service, Legal, etc.) to provide sound commercial contract advice, assist in developing sustainable tender submissions, and protect Roche’s legal, financial interests and reputation. You will also be responsible for commercial projects, process documentation and ensuring a continuously high level of quality across the commercial contracts function.

What you will be working on includes:

As the Commercial Contracts Business Partner (CBP), you will:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts and tender departures, ensuring alignment with public procurement regulations and internal governance.

  • Provide professional and strategic advice on commercial topics to the business to ensure contractual and legislative risk mitigation.

  • Drive and design continuous improvement initiatives in sales/service contract management processes.

  • Evaluate and implement contract management business processes and procedures to ensure ongoing high quality.

  • Act as a business partner to Sales teams, providing commercial input regarding contract compliance and escalating deviations.

  • Identify contract KPIs and obligations from commercial agreements and design processes for ongoing compliance monitoring.

  • Effectively lead commercial projects in the contracts management space, focusing on achieving customer and Roche’s objectives.

  • Support the maintenance of the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system as a source of truth.

  • Organise and participate in contracts governance discussions to resolve identified issues in sales/service.

  • Monitor changes in relevant contracts-related regulations, standards, and legislation.

  • Support and coordinate internal contract reviews, ensuring they are within agreed terms of tolerance.

  • Act as a back-up for Sales and Service contract management as required.

Who you are:

As an enterprise thinker you are insightful and able to bring accountability, excellence and a creative approach to your work. With your excellent communication skills you can communicate confidently and clearly adapting to different business needs and proactively share valuable information across the Commercial Contracts team and broader organisation.

You have:

  • Degree in Law or related field and commercial contracts expertise with at least five [5] years or equivalent Post-Qualified Experience (PQE).

  • You have a strong track record of expertise in negotiating high-value, complex goods and services contracts, preferably within the healthcare market.

  • You possess a high level of digital literacy, including proficiency with contracts systems, Google suite and AI tools.

  • You demonstrate significant experience with Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems and process improvement within the commercial contract space.

  • You are a proactive self-starter and an action and impact-oriented individual, capable of working independently in a deadline-oriented environment.

  • You have strong negotiation skills and the ability to evaluate and draft reasoned tender departures.

  • You are a highly effective team player with excellent internal/external stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive culture.

  • You are an enterprise thinker with strategic skills to evaluate and identify solutions, taking ownership and personal accountability for your work.

  • You are trustworthy, demonstrating high integrity and an unyielding commitment to legal and regulatory compliance.

This role is only open to candidates that have full eligibility to live and work in Australia. You may be required to travel.
