The Commercial Content Manager is responsible for researching, writing, and assembling proposal content, collaborating with experts to develop proposals, and ensuring timely reviews. They maintain proposal records, gather feedback for improvement, and curate content for AI development.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities% Time
- Researches, writes, and assembles proposal content. This includes cover letters, executive summaries, descriptions of a company’s qualifications and experience, work approach and methodology, team structures, staff member qualifications, and other proposal requirements specified in the bid solicitation.
- Works with subject matter experts to strategize, plan, create key win themes, and develop proposal sections.
- Stays on schedule and work with other sales and marketing professionals to ensure adequate review time.
- Develops minor graphics to support the key messaging and visual appeal of proposals.
- Maintains a record of proposals submitted.
- Obtains feedback on proposals submitted (won or lost) to identify improvement opportunities.
- Curates and maintains content required to enable AI proposal development capabilities with a focus on accuracy and ‘best quality’ standard answers for core content.
Influence And Decision-Making Authority
Operates within broad practices and procedures, with a degree of independence (provided within approved operating plans, objectives and content/risk policies).
Works to influence others to accept job function’s view/practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices, and approaches. Requires ability to communicate and collaborate with a broad group of stakeholders. May conduct briefings with leaders within the job function. For example:
- Working with Industry and Service Line teams to determine best content
- Working with account and service teams to develop client specific proposals
- Working with marketing to enable campaign content development
- Working with technology teams on content management solutions including AI
- Capturing and sharing best practices and lessons learned within the Commercial Content team and with other core stakeholders.
Job Requirements & Capabilities
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent experience
Job specific capabilities/skills:
- 5-7 years in content management and proposal development, ideally in a consulting or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated success in driving content development for complex consulting proposals.
- Strong understanding of client issues and ability to articulate value propositions internally and externally for assigned industry or service teams; experience of collaboration across service teams, industries and regions to address complex sales pursuit efforts
- In-depth knowledge of content management best practices
- Highly data-driven and able to leverage strong project-management and organizational skills to anticipate roadblocks and juggle competing priorities.
- An ability to operate at pace and with a high attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and play a “connective” role in a global organization
- Familiarity with sales methodologies and pursuit best practices
- Familiarity with AI platforms preferred
