Job Description:

SECURITY CLEARANCE: Involves working within the UK Defence industry, requiring the applicants to be UK Nationals Only (No Dual Nationals) and able to be security cleared to a UK Eyes Only SC level

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional travel within UK and international

LOCATION: Site Based Mon-Fri - Newport, South Wales (relocation packages offered)

TYPE: Full time / Part time / STEM returner

The Commercial and Contracts Manager will be responsible for the management of all Commercial and Contractual aspects of allocated bids and contracts across this diverse program unit and throughout the full contract lifecycle. This position will be based at the Airbus Defence and Space Newport site; however, we are happy to support flexible hybrid working with regular attendance on site due to the restricted nature of activities. Travel to other sites including customer sites may be required.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM

  • Provide overall commercial leadership, guidance and expertise in support of Sales and Program teams, taking into account local requirements
  • Manage all C&C matters within bids and contracts, from receipt of RFP to project closure and ensure commercial risks are highlighted and mitigated
  • Review the non-technical part of all RFPs received by Defence Digital & Cyber and provide recommendations re. go/no go; bid/no bid decision process and proposed deviations of client’s requirements
  • Define requirements for flow down to suppliers, subcontractors and co-contractors and ensuring that financial risks are assessed in the proposal / contract
  • Identify and evaluate liability issues deriving from contracts or transactions under negotiations or in force and ensure proper and regular information and reporting to management

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills within the commercial fields such as Commercial, Legal, Sales, Procurement, bidding & project delivery
  • Experience of Single Source rules in relation to MOD contracts as outlined by the SSRO, or similar sole source arrangements
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to interact and influence across a range of stakeholders
