Location:

London, GB

Condé Nast is a global media company, home to iconic brands including Vogue, GQ, Glamour, CN Traveller, Vanity Fair, Wired, The World of Interiors, House & Garden and Tatler, among many others.

We are headquartered in New York and London and operate in 32 markets worldwide, with a footprint of more than 1 billion consumers across print, digital, video and social platforms.

Condé Nast thrives on collaboration, and our teams come together in the office four days a week (Monday - Thursday).

We value diversity of background, views and cultures. We celebrate people for their personal qualities, skills and contributions, recognising the power our brands have to influence and shape culture.

British Vogue is seeking a Shopping Writer to join the Vogue Shopping team, crafting distinctive and compelling shopping content that inspires our audience while driving meaningful commercial growth across affiliate and partnerships.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about shopping across every category – from fashion and beauty to lifestyle – with a strong background in fashion journalism and exceptional editorial instincts. They will be skilled at positioning stories to both attract an audience and drive purchase, with a clear point of view on the products, brands and trends that matter to the Vogue reader.

Working as an extension of the wider Vogue editorial team, the Shopping Writer will help identify what British Vogue should be covering, bringing an authoritative editorial perspective to product recommendations while collaborating closely with editorial, fashion, audience, social and commercial teams. They will be up to speed on the latest developments across fashion and beauty – from emerging trends and industry news to the evolving retail landscape and product launches – and able to translate these into distinctive, timely and relevant Vogue Shopping content.

The Shopping Writer will be comfortable optimising content for affiliate performance and SEO, using traffic, purchasing and conversion data to inform future stories and identify opportunities for growth. They will also develop new ways to engage audiences with commerce-driven storytelling across Vogue’s digital platforms – from articles and newsletters to social and editor-led UGC.

The role will have clear responsibility for contributing to British Vogue’s affiliate revenue targets. Our Shopping Writers are expected to understand the metrics that drive revenue, including Click Through Rate, Conversion Rate, Average Order Value and Commission Rate (CPA), and use these insights to inform editorial decisions and optimise commercial performance. Previous experience creating commerce content that has driven meaningful revenue is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will write and contribute to commissioning new shopping stories, product guides, reviews and round-ups, while ensuring British Vogue’s archive of shopping content remains up to date, authoritative and optimised for search, affiliate performance and e-commerce best practice. They will also use regular reporting and performance analysis to help shape future editorial strategy.

We are looking for someone who combines the instincts and editorial judgement of a Vogue editor with a strong understanding of digital commerce: someone who can bring a clear editorial point of view to shopping recommendations, spot what the Vogue reader will want next and understand how exceptional editorial can translate into measurable commercial results.

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the world’s most influential fashion titles and play an important role in the continued growth and evolution of British Vogue Shopping.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Write, pitch and optimise up to 8–10 new and evergreen commerce stories each week, working with the Shopping Director, wider shopping team and creative teams to ensure content and product recommendations are distinctive, authoritative and on-brand.

  • Work with the Shopping Editor to manage the long-term commerce editorial calendar across ongoing, seasonal, evergreen and emerging shopping content.

  • Identify new shopping categories, products and trends Vogue should be covering, with a finger on the pulse of what fashion consumers are interested in before competitors.

  • Identify and plan around editorial categories, seasonal tentpoles and emerging commerce opportunities, using purchasing data, site analytics, search trends and competitive insights to inform coverage.

  • Shoot editor-led UGC to support Vogue Shopping content across articles, social and newsletters.

  • Produce and present regular reports, analysis and insights on content, audience and commercial performance.

  • Work with the Shopping Editor to track purchasing data and performance across onsite, social and newsletter distribution, using insights to inform future editorial decisions.

  • Work closely with Commerce and Audience Development teams to share data, insights and best practices that improve the reach and performance of Vogue Shopping content.

  • Act as a commerce voice within the wider Vogue editorial team, supporting the research and optimisation of shoppable content and identifying opportunities to translate Vogue’s editorial authority into commerce.

  • Bring a clear editorial point of view to product and shopping recommendations that reflects the interests and expectations of the Vogue reader.

  • Partner with the fashion market team to support market stories with authoritative shopping expertise, copy and captions.

Essential Skills & Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have product and shopping editorial expertise, alongside a strong enthusiasm for helping define and grow Vogue’s content-to-commerce strategy.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience writing fashion and commerce or affiliate content for a digital publication, with a strong understanding of commerce best practice.

  • Excellent editorial judgement and the ability to write clean, authentic and engaging copy at speed without resorting to marketing jargon.

  • Strong knowledge of SEO principles and how to use search insights to attract and serve a buying audience.

  • Experience analysing performance across product categories, retailers and content types and using those insights to optimise revenue generation.

  • Experience managing product sourcing logistics within an editorial or commerce environment.

  • Strong and expansive product knowledge across categories and price points, with a particular passion for fashion and shopping.

  • Strong organisational skills and a methodical, Vogue-directed approach to work, with polished communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Confidence working effectively across editorial, audience, creative, social and commercial teams.

  • A proactive, self-starting approach and enthusiasm for directly contributing to the growth of Condé Nast’s commerce business.

What benefits do we offer?
